Yes. Maven needs to make its interface more clearer and less crowded so you can see where you are flying to more.

It’s all really good and useful info, but maybe shrink the icons 25% would make it a cleaner interface?

The maven app is designed for specific cinematic shots in mind. Like planned shots. Not for everyday shots. If that makes sense.

Very interesting comparisons Robert. I'm using my DJI Mini 2 with an iPhone 8 and I have the DJI Fly and the Maven apps installed. I use Maven for waypoint missions and for the follow functions it provides, but I agree with you that the DJI Fly app is the cleanest interface, although one feature I really like on Maven is the indicator that shows the comparative alignment between controller antenna and the drone - useful for making slight adjustments if you're experiencing signal issues.
@WindsweptRobert2 жыл бұрын
That's a great indicator, Nick, and it's more accurate and reliable the the DJI Fly app's own one.

Thanks for this comparison. I agree with your assessment that each app has its strengths and weaknesses. They are not terribly expensive, but not cheap if its wasted money based on high expectations that the app doesn't deliver. I did see that gimbal twitch when you flew with Litchi. Might have to call it Twitchi, lol. Phil Scraba says Litchi doesn't fly orbits, it flys hexagons! This was some great footage - the light was beautiful, sky and farm land very attractive -and that drone was really mooving. - Ahh, but lets not get THAT started again lol!!!!
@WindsweptRobert2 жыл бұрын
Not terribly expensive, i agree John, and I don't mind paying the wee fee to buy them all to show anyone who is interested the differences before they buy. Might help them decide whether one will do them ,or whether they like features of both :) I did have a nice day for this flight. Random weather change that only lasted one day! Anyway, mooving along...

The extra features are really worth it, Paul :)

Great comparison video, Robert!! Maybe some point down the road I might look into these but as of now, I don't even use the extra features in the DJI Fly app. I've never used any of the 'Quick shots' feature....I haven't even used Return To Home (neither pilot initiated or situational initiated). In one of my recent videos, I almost thought about using the circle/orbit feature but ended up just orbiting manually. I thought it came out quite well (especially considering it was my try at orbiting). Hope you and the wife are doing well after your 'visitors' last week. I have to agree with you that is was your 'buddy', the ranger who instigated the police visit. Looking at the analytics of both videos shows how much traffic they've attracted. It's kind of sad and pathetic that it's the 'drama' that draws viewers in rather than all of the educational content you've produced. Whether it's been learning about the reliability and features of the Mini 2 (or the DJI FPV and the Mini 3 Pro) or learning Scottish history (Sawney Bean has been one of my favorites of your videos), I find this type of content more fulfilling than the confrontational ones. Keep up the great work and thanks again for all you do!!!
@WindsweptRobert2 жыл бұрын
I think that for owners of the mini 2 who want the extra functionality that these 3rd party apps can provide (tracking, Waypoint missions, Geofencing) my video comparisons should prove helpful :) We are doing ok. My wife is a wee thing and is still a bit upset, but we're doing better, thanks for caring :) I am also really disappointed that it takes confrontational videos such as the ranger video and the police video to gain a decent number of views. It's no wonder that so many new 'audit' channels are created every week. I spend days/weeks creating a video - like the Sawney Bean story, and it gains so few views that my out-of-pocket expenses creating that video make me much less likely to create more of that type. So much easier just to point a camera at someone and pick an argument with them, upload the video (no editing required) and gain tens or hundreds of thousands of views. I often wonder what the point of my channel is :(

@@WindsweptRobert Chins up Mr and Mrs Windswept , you were sadly targeted by a vindictive individual and it,s unlikely that any further mention or action will be heard . WELL within your capability to follow ;)

Hi Robert, good video, but I think it would have been much better if you had the phone screen as the big picture and the footage in the small screen, then we could have seen the different screens better 😀
@WindsweptRobert2 жыл бұрын
I did consider that, Kanailad, but I felt that showing the big screen for each flight would be better because THAT is the footage you want to see so that if there is a difference in the flight characteristics, it will be apparent in the footage. In the end, it's the footage we want to see, not the telemetry (unless it's a test video)
@Kanailad2 жыл бұрын
Maybe another video showing the user interface up close, as the actual footage will always be extremely similar as you not changing the camera , good work though, appreciated 👏

@WindsweptRobert2 жыл бұрын
Thanks:) What made you switch from Maven to Litchi?
@B0M0A0K2 жыл бұрын
@@WindsweptRobert It was purely a device based decision. I had been flying with iPad Mini 4 and then Mini 5, but the screen brightness on both was abysmal. I even tried making a sunshade, but eventually gave up and moved to an android tablet. It's been great! I also lost my first drone while flying a Maven mission and never really trusted it after that. I have created and tested many Litchi missions that were quite close, just so I could build trust in the product before going any further.
@WindsweptRobert2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I don't suppose you have any footage/telemetry/flight data for your lost drone while using Maven, do you? I'd be VERY interested to study that and perhaps create a video around it :)
