Thanks for the amazing drive video, I'm a big fan of desert drives because we don't get that here in the UK. Love the scenery.

driving up to the park from the town of Joshua Tree, i used to live in the last place on the right just before you crossed into the park. at that time it was a 2 room cabin on 5 acres, costing me $175/mo. this was 35yrs ago. i was working as a tennis pro in palm springs and would drive a VW diesel the easy 1 hour ea way.

I haven't been there since the 1970's, and I had to look at my old photos again to compare. There are far-fewer Joshua Trees now than there were back then. What happened?

I was there a bit two years ago around Ryan Mountain - there are still a lot, but it looks like the camera car came from the south end of the park since low cholla cactus were visible and Joshua Trees don't grow much near that end. There's still a lot for miles of Joshua trees around north-west Joshua Tree/29 Palms Entrances. The park is made of two different deserts, the Mojave and the Colorado, with different elevations, so each end of the park has a different look.

was someone else driving in this video? it seems to me, the style of driving is different - not as expert a driver. i notice the way they pull way over and almost stop to let someone pass - which isnt needed and a couple times they pulled off to sand which could have been a problem had it been more soft/loose...

It's beautiful, thank you, but all the same, at the end of this journey, it's sad to see people with masks in such a deserted, vast and airy place.
