Top video Mark.👍 I watched this on the telly when you first published it, but as I'm not signed into the telly YT account, I meant to post a comment via my computer later, but I forgot lol. I just watched Twiggy's video with you in it, and it reminded me that I still hadn't posted on your video, so I decided to rectify the situation. Apologies for the delay.🙂

Ah thanks mate, very kind of you to retrospectively leave a comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Look forward to seeing your next adventure.

I did winnets pass last week. Woke up there solstice morning ( Thurs). Did the great ridge then camped kinder ... I got sunburnt, still a little tender today.... Take care out there.

@@trickofthetrail I posted a badly shot video of it . I really enjoyed it and will go back and do it again... do enjoy doing kinder any time of year, any kind of weather... Take care out there.

Sorry I took the sun and views home with me and you didn’t get to experience Fairbrook at its finest! I’ve pitched in both of those spots 😍

Ha ha, yeah I was so jealous of your sunny views from the night before. I should have stayed on Howden Edge. Lovely spot though and I'll 100% head back there.

Entertaining as usual matey... let's do a peak district camp 👍 it's been too long
@trickofthetrail7 ай бұрын
Thanks matey. Yes absolutely, we'll have to try and get something in the calendar. I'm actually tied up for a few weeks, but I'll drop you a message when I've got my next available free slot for a camp. Hope you're all well mate.

Nice bit of banter, That size of tent is too much of a tight squeeze for my liking but if you like it how about using a small carbon fibre pole for the foot end and using 2 at the front. i made myself a flexible bit of hose for my Duomid so i can use two poles which worked but then i ended up just settling for the 1 ATB 👍
@trickofthetrail7 ай бұрын
Hey mate. Yeah, I'm not sure I'll keep it, but I'll be putting it through its paces for a while and then decide. I have thought about trying to do an AFrame, you can do it with the one person version, but this one is too big. I could probably find some solution for it, but I'll try offsetting the pole and see how I get on with that. Thanks as always for watching and commenting mate.
@AmblingMan7 ай бұрын
a few thoughts: you can swing the pole to one side to get in and out. I use Alpit carbon long poles, extend to 1.5m, and often on sale, they should be long enough for an A frame, alternatively you can get a joiner such as the locus gear DPTE or MYOG equivalent . For the rear I have a 2 piece carbon strut from barebonesbackpacking. It's nice to have a string tail on the outer zip to make it easier to reach. For porridge you can decant into a freezer bag and cook in that.
@trickofthetrail6 ай бұрын
Yeah, I have offset the pole, which I did briefly demonstrate on my review video and it does make a lot of difference for sure. On my last camp I had it offset and it was much better. Good tip about the Alpkit Carbon Poles. I will take a look at those and see if they are long enough to do an A-Frame. That would be ideal. I used to actually bulk buy porridge and put them into bags, but I've just become lazy. 😂 Thanks so much for watching and the tips mate. Really appreciate it.
@AmblingMan6 ай бұрын
@@trickofthetrail my point with the offset pole was to move it when you need to get past, I saw where you had it offset before, just assumed you'd found it unstable. BTW, are you in Hooky? I'm in Chippy, if so you're welcome to try out my Alpkit poles.
@trickofthetrail6 ай бұрын
@@AmblingMan Ah I see. Actually it seemed quite stable on my last camp with the pole set to one side, so I'll see how it goes. Wish I did live in Hooky or Chippy. I actually live in Leamington Spa, but my daughter lives in Chipping Campden, so am over that way a fair bit. Thanks so much for the offer of lending me the trekking poles, that's very kind of you. If I decide to keep the Trekkertent I might take you up on it. Do you have a Stealth yourself or something similar?
@AmblingMan6 ай бұрын
@@trickofthetrail you're not far away :) Your review video tagged Hooky for some reason, that's what threw me. I have way too many tents, particularly partial to Tarptent, I have a Notch Li that is pretty much my go to for long distance walks in the UK. I have a Stealth 1, it's not a place to hang out in, probably should have got the 1.5 but went all in :D think I got all retro thinking about Saunders Jetpackers. I have a Dipole DW on the way with a mesh inner, hoping to take that to NZ. Outside of that I have... Aeon Li, Scarp Ultra, stratospire 2, duomid, cricket, ultamid 2, lunar solo, Saunders Satellite Plus. I think that's all the hiking tents...

@@AmblingMan Ah, it's because I copied over the details from a previous video I did in Hook Norton (Paying to Wild Camp in the Cotswolds). Flipping heck I thought I had a lot of tents.😂 I've been looking at the Notch Li and also the StratoSpire Li. I've just purchased the Bonfus Middus 2p with the 1p inner, so looking forward to using that. I've got a new project that I'm working on, which will hopefully allow me to try out and review lots of tents. Your trip to NZ sounds great. I'd love to get out there.

Didn't realise it was that cold but look at us... Looking like a winter camp. Not June... I look like some sort of idiot lost... Enjoyed watching. Good memories.. Even though it wasn't sunny like your camp the night before... I'll get my vid out this week. 👍

Yeah, was actually fine mate. They are tough little things. I thought the lens was chipped, but it seems fine.
@Dave-go2ps7 ай бұрын
If you move the main pole to either side and raise it in height at same time you should find it is still stable but out of your way. I have a tarp tent pro trail, which is similar in design and that works fine. Also, tarp tent sells trekking pole shrouds which you can tie into the tent peak. You might be able to tie in two and then you have two sides of an a frame, as long as you have a small carbon pole at the rear.
@trickofthetrail7 ай бұрын
Hey Dave. Yeah I actually tried that when I got home. I did a first impressions review video of it and showed the offset trekking pole, which seems to work fine. I think I'll see how that goes before looking at some kind of A-Frame setup. I would need an extender because it's too big for standard trekking poles. How you getting on with the ProTrail? Looks great and I did consider it, but went for this because of the optional solid inner for colder conditions. I can imagine it's much more spacious.
@DavidBuxton-e8p7 ай бұрын
I have the pro trail li, so single skinned. It is pretty spacious given it weighs under 500g. 4 peg set up is also great unless it is windy, when I would use more. Enjoying your videos!

@trickofthetrail7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm not convinced with it, but have found some work around's for the pole issue. But yes, was a fun camp. Thanks for stopping by and commenting mate. I really appreciate it.

Tent looks like it could do with a porch area. But if the object is for lightweight bare-bones shelter maybe it's perfect.
@trickofthetrail7 ай бұрын
Well it does have a vestibule, but it's obstructed with that pole, which isn't ideal. It is meant for long distance hikes and basically just somewhere to sleep, but not sure I'll be keeping it.
@mrwilliamstravels7 ай бұрын
Jeezus that does look cold to be in a transparent tent, was this recently? Great video again though mate and i enjoyed twiggys squashed buns. That pole looks way to annoying though - you need a third pole!
@trickofthetrail7 ай бұрын
Actually it wasn't too bad. Probably because I was smashed. 😂 Well, I think I've got a work around for the pole, you can offset it, so it gives more space, then I can pop it back in place when I got to bed. I plan on seeing how I get on with that next time.
