Absolutely fantastic 🤩 Howden Edge is one of my favourites! One of my first wild camps further out was at Crow Stones just further along to the right and I’ve never stopped thinking about it. I’d love to go back but I like the weather to be perfect 😅it’s a good hike out for stuff to go wrong unless you park at Kings tree down at the reservoir. Cracking vid 🙌🏻 ATB, Sarah

Thanks Sarah. Yeah I love Howden Edge, the views are gorgeous up there. I've never camped at Crow Stones, I did have a look once, but couldn't see a pitching spot, so must have missed it. I'll take a look next time. However yes, you don't want to have a wild camp fail up there. It's a long old way to get back to civilisation. Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment Sarah. Really appreciate it.

Thanks matey. I know right. Although it was still bloody cold at night. Catch up soon mate.

Wow, you actually had nice weather. Looks beautiful and you should defo camp at that castle one day too. That tent looks so flimsey, im suprised it stayed up. The sheep seem to like it though. Looking forward to see what happened on night 2

I know. Wonders will never cease. However it was still bloody cold at night. The tent looks flimsy, but looks are deceiving. It's actually pretty sturdy. I plan on properly putting it through its paces though. I'm not sure the sheep did like it. I think they were wondering why I was planning to sleep in the flipping thing.

Superb view you found there mate. Sounds as though you're not sold on the Trekkertent.

Yeah, is a cracking view up there. However yes, I'm not sold on the Trekkertent. Well made, nice to sleep in, but just not enough space.

I'd like to see more adventures with those 2 friends you made at your camp

😂 I'll see what I can do for you on the next one mate. I do seem to attract sheep. 🤷🏻

Back when I got started - and that's an old fart warning if ever there was one - most backpacking tents had a vestibule at the end, not at the side, and domes were waiting for Buckminster Fuller to have his bright idea. It looks as if you could rig a guy line from the highest point of that tent. If you slacken those side guys and haul away on the lengthways guys so that you can get some tension into the ridgeline, you might get a prettier pitch. obviously, a flat location would increase the odds. My first good tent was a Phoenix Phantom, a similar shape to your Stealth, and it could handle some serious conditions.

Hello mate, sorry about the delayed reply. Thanks so much for the tips. I really did struggle with this tent, probably because I'm not used to the style. I did do an appalling job of pitching it in this video. I did a much better job next time out. I've since had it out in some pretty windy and wet conditions and it performed very well in the wind. I think it's just not quite the right tent for me, but sometimes you have to give these things a try. Thanks so much for watching and commenting mate. I hope you enjoyed the video. 👍🏻

Not much love for my poor little saggy tent going on here. 😂 TBF, I pitched it like a moron and did a much better job on my second night out. However...I'm not convinced. 🙈

It's sunny on Howden edge😮... Why did u walk 13 miles to be in crap weather. Lol Can see why u were upset now... On my bucket list up on Howden... Nice vid mate you're nearly at 1000.👍
@trickofthetrail5 ай бұрын
Well indeed Mick. I was quite verbal about that when I was sat there with you looking at it bathing in sunshine. 😂 Yeah Howden Edge is a cracker, I do love it up there and is much quieter than Derwent Edge. We should do a camp at Margery Stones one day. There's more than enough room for a couple of tents.

how about a nice trailstar, 500g, bags of space, or as im doing xmid 2p fly and bivy haha
@trickofthetrail5 ай бұрын
Well funny you say that mate as I have been looking at the Trailstar and also the Bonfus Middus 2p with the 1p inner. I've just got to save up some cash first. These bloody tents are decimating my bank balance. X-mid and a bivvy is a good shout also.
@cuprajake15 ай бұрын
@@trickofthetrail i have a trailstar you can pick them up used £200+ they are bomb proof in the wind, however low ish, the xmid im hoping will give me space, protection and negate the issuse of inner touching outer as there will be not inner lol
@trickofthetrail5 ай бұрын
@@cuprajake1 I'd probably go for the DCF version with the innernet if I was to do it. Does look good though. Nice headphone choice in your profile pic BTW. 👍

What date were you up there? Wifey and I did our first wild camp up there 1/2 June. Conditions looked pretty similar and we even met the same sheep as you!
@trickofthetrail5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was up there 1st of June. Where did you guys camp? There were a couple of chaps that passed me, not sure if that was you? But we had a chat, so I would have thought you'd have remembered. Did you have a dog with you?
@AndrewWaltersuk5 ай бұрын
@@trickofthetrail I think we were closer to Margery Stones than you ended up. We were in our Panacea 2 right on the edge. Got a cracking little flat bit after also trying to get on Margery stones but found it full. We spoke to the two guys with the dog, they turned up after we did. We probably watched you turn up as it was quite busy that night. What time did you leave as we headed up to bag High Stones Ethel in the morning.
@trickofthetrail5 ай бұрын
@@AndrewWaltersuk Ah okay, yeah I think I saw your tents in the distance. I presumed it was the chaps with the dog. I was there quite early and walked by Margery Stones, so would have see you had you been there already. I guess you must have come up from the North side? I think I left just before 9 and headed up to Kinder Scout. Was a busy night up there wasn't it? I've never seen Howden Edge so busy. It's normally very quiet. I can only imagine what Derwent Edge was like.
@AndrewWaltersuk5 ай бұрын
@@trickofthetrail they ended up further down again and then another lot turned up afterwards. They pitched a bit further back from the edge. Hope to see you out there soon!

Tent looks a bit pony
@trickofthetrail5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm giving it a proper chance. I pitched it really really poorly to be fair and did a much better job the following night. I plan on properly putting it through its paces, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for watching and commenting Mark.
