Hi Tim, I started fingerstyle about a year and a half ago. I have strummed chords, slid a lick or two in from time to time, and all that since I was about 8 years old. I never took lessons or learned how to read music, so my skillset was very minimal, but just loved the guitar. I'm 62 now. As I stated above, a year and a half ago I decided it was crazy to close my years out without doing something I loved to do and doing it well. The first person I listened to on youtube said, it can be done, so I believed them and went for it (as anyone trying knows, it seems almost impossible to do at first). I now know part one of Windy and Warm thanks to your efforts here. I am very grateful to folks like you who invest the time that you do to help others who love the guitar. Howdy from the great state of Texas and please sir, keep up the great work that you do. You, and others like you, are very much appreciated my friend.

@@TimVanRoy Appreciate the encouragement. I'll likely work for a living till I drop, so retirement is a ways out I think :). I love what I do for a living too much to actually quit. That said, I think I've come to one conclusion about fingerstyle, or really any instrument you choose; The amount of time you're willing to invest and the amount of challenge you're willing to take on, means the difference between being ok, descent, good or great. You've said it yourself, you just can't get around investing the time. I'm a subscriber now, primarily due to your attitude and your teaching ability. Just discoverd Tim recently. Yet again a Superb tutorial from a very gifted guitar player! A small tip that helped me; if you struggle with the upward-bend with the pinky (as i do) try a downward-bend (pull the string down instead of pushing it up). For me that solved my problem with the upward-bend. Maybe not the same but it sounds ok.
@TimVanRoy3 жыл бұрын
That's a good addition Anton! Pulling down on the string will work as long as the bend is not too wide (like the half step in this case). As soon as you have to go for a full step you will probably pull the string off the fretboard before you reach the right pitch!

I'm starting a whole series on Chet's music soon (the first lessons have already been finished) and I'll See You In My Dreams will definitely pop up in there as well!

Hi, Tim! There’s another iconic song of Chat and Tommy - Borsalino. I hope one day you will transcribe it. Many thanks for Windy&Warm!

Borsalino will be done for sure in the future! As soon as I get a few TE-videos ready I'll have some breathing room in the schedule and start addressing other artists as well.

Do we can also play it with a pick snd Hybrid style? Thanks
