Thanks for the video. I am yet to test my Durston in winds like that, but I am confident that it will be fine. PS: Here in Australia, you don't leave your tent inner unzipped - you never know what might join you!

A great video, remember, when you climb over a farm gate, always climb over the hinge side. This will keep the farmer happy. If you climb at the closing side the gate will start to drop and drag. atb cheers from the mountains of NZ. 😊

Ah thanks for watching the gate was tied at both ends. Was wobbly before I even got on it 🤣

Impressive how the flappy stopped once up and pegged out. You forgot to do the rucsac! What is it? Hang on, found in the description. Never seen liteway before. Good stuff.

Nice one! Those hills look really inviting. Some good views going on up there 😍 Cold camps definitely make any aches feel that little bit deeper, but your body will thank you for it! ATB, James.

No I don’t think they do! I usually use some for of bungie to reduce strain!

Ive not seen many using a bivy inside their tent. I imagine it's to stop condensation on your sleeping bag? Is it a weight penalty youre more than happy with? Do you wver think of not bringing it? Is it a winter option only?
@thegeordiewildcamper Жыл бұрын
Hey, I usually only bring it for added protection and warmth. It’s around 450g so not a massive penalty. It’s was only the second time using the tent so wanted to make sure I wasn’t caught out. Safe to say I’ll not be bringing this again. I’ll also use one of there is no inner to the tent to avoid condensation on multday hikes. Thanks for watching 👍

Great vid! Is it the x-mid or x-mid solid? How is it length ways? I’m finding my Terranova Pioneer 2 a tad short, my feet often pushing the inner up on to the fly and soaking my sleeping bag
@lakorai2 Жыл бұрын
This one is the Solid 1p V2. The Solid is definately preferred in the UK and Ireland over the mesh model.
@thegeordiewildcamper Жыл бұрын
It’s the solid version for the UK. I’ve had no issues with the space inside. Very spacious for a 1 man.

How come you used the Alpkit Bivvy inside your tent?
@thegeordiewildcamper Жыл бұрын
I was expecting the condensation to be bad so put this on. I also use it as an extra form of insulation

I find the x-mid a noisy tent in the wind. Even with relatively low wind speeds. What are your thoughts on this. I think looking at your video you also suffered from this.
@thegeordiewildcamper3 ай бұрын
I’d have to say most tents I’ve used suffer from noise in winds. Also pitching in winds I usually don’t guys everything out super tight to allow some flex, this can cause additional noise. I take AirPods 🤣
@phil.cowling3 ай бұрын
@@thegeordiewildcamper yeah. My main mountain tent is a Quasar. I find it quiet it most conditions. But it's a very different tent. I think I just have the X-Mid on the nosier end of the scale. Still, nothing is perfect and it's a balance of what it brings and what's not so great about it.

Great camp mate, love it up the cheviots 👌loads of good spots for a camp, always windy mind, provides a good test for your x-mid, I’ve got one coming tomorrow 🤞, what mods did you do to it? I did notice the guy on the vent, Did you get a ground sheet? Great video, look forward to the next one, atb Mick 👍

Hey! Thanks for watching…no mods other than adding additional guys spots along the bottom. I’ve ordered a groundsheet from Lucy QiunCraft just waiting for it to arrive! Lovely tent!

Which tent pegs do you use there?
@thegeordiewildcamper Жыл бұрын
Hey, i use a combination of carbon easton core/ 4 big Flea pegs (can be found on instagram) and some cheaper OEX stakes. thanks for watching.

Do you think this tent could survive a night of costant 40-60mph winds like a hilleberg? Or is is more of a lower elevation tent? Seems like it'd be perfect where i live as its never really that windy
@thegeordiewildcamper Жыл бұрын
It’s not something I’d want to experience in it. 40-60mph is serious wind. I’d be seeking somewhere more sheltered - would it be standing most probably

Great video mate. I've subbed to your channel. 👍 I've just taken delivery of my X-Mid 2 and was hoping to take it out the Peaks this weekend for its maiden voyage. However the wind gusts are due to be around 50mph. What's your thoughts on it handling that?
@thegeordiewildcamper Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! Id say hang fire on that mate. I think it could handle quite a bit but no point in taking a risk! 50mph usually means 70mph hahaha

I use the explorer 1 anemometer and it reads in mph. I’m sure I show that in the video unless I’m mistaken. Apologies.
