Great video! Could you make a video on what kind of job opportunities exist in the other cities? Thank you for your good work :)
@WineAndRum3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Unless the Statistics Office has some data on jobs by county/city that would be difficult information to find out, other than going on job sites and searching by county/city. If we do find enough info, we'll make a video on it, thanks.

As an Irish person I am easily able to say the cost of living in this country is a disgrace compared to the majority of wages. Taxation takes almost half of your wages before you even start to think about the expenses excellently outlined in this video.

Great video. Being a retiree from the USA I think I'd choose Cork or someplace nearby. The cost of living is lower. It doesn't have a big city vibe. Most important is proximity to the airport. You can catch a quick flight to many wonderful destinations in Europe without a long travel time on the road or railway. Less than two hours to Paris for less than $200. It's hard to beat that if you don't plan on staying put. I really like Waterford but it's two hours to drive to the airport in Cork. So less travel opportunity.
@WineAndRum21 күн бұрын
It's been a while since we made this video, but we think Cork would be a solid choice. We travelled out of Ireland a lot in 2023, and the proximity to an airport was definitely a life saver since our flights would be around 7 am.

Hope that you get to fulfil that dream too. We just happened to study these in-demand skills. Most of all we tried to prepare ourselves to be able to work internationally. There's no simple advice, but most persons I know got involved in something different (e.g. environmental causes outreach) and now they've done a degree in it and living in US for a few years. You can sometimes never tell where your interests could take you. Good luck!

How can you have the salary almost the same price as your rent??😭😭 I want to go to University to Ireland but…I am not sure right now…😭😭
@Tony_Kidvaski3 жыл бұрын
And of course your living costs are just the basics. You have to buy food, clothing, possibly insurance, entertainment (I mean why work for misery?), Everyday expenses like lunch. The salaries need to rise by at least 1000 euro per month in Ireland to make it worthwhile. Also Ireland has a very corrupt government.

Belfast is also one to consider. Rent is much cheaper.
@WineAndRum3 жыл бұрын
We should have put it on the list since it is a place one could commute to. We figure non-EU persons would need permission to work across the border, but would the same apply to EU citizens. Need to research that. One of our biggest regrets is that, before this pandemic started we put off visiting the Belfast thinking we could always go whenever we wanted.
@ThePoorManTrader2 жыл бұрын
@@WineAndRum Great work guys I would like to know what are the prices in Belfast and as EU citizen can one just live there and work in Irelannd please do your research and let us know the practical side of living in or near Belfast or the north in general.

Coming from Australia I thought Sydney rents were expensive but nothing like Dublin(when you convert the currencies)..how can anyone afford to live there...I was hoping to go over for a year..maybe not ...great vid thanks...
@WineAndRum3 жыл бұрын
It definitely is pretty expensive to just be here for a year unless you've got the money to burn. For most of us in certain industries the salaries allow it. But we know most people aren't on a tech salary, we're trying to look for how it is possible to put in more of our videos.

bro its expenise i would like to know about killarney the fees for to rent and is it possible to find work there thank you in advance .
@WineAndRum2 жыл бұрын
We haven't been to Killarney yet, but we've seen this new site start advertising - Westernjobs.ie. If it comes to grow it could be a useful tool in looking for jobs in the west of Ireland. We've found that once a place is in one of the major cities of the area, it's still a bit pricey in comparison. According to the latest reports it could be around 1000 for a 1 bedroom and around mid1000s from there out. Best option may be to enquire into a Facebook group or someone that lives around there for more info or hidden gems.

We haven't yet been to Mayo, we can say it does look gorgeous from all the photos and videos of it. Woodlands and beautiful riverside walks are what we imagine. Most places outside Dublin just feel like a different pace of life.

I was born and raised on Dublin, went to uni there I would not recomend anyone live there if they had a choice. I live in Gorey, Wexford alot of people in this town an many other live outside Dublin but travel there daily to work.
@AngelaPeccos3 жыл бұрын
a big city in mayo to have a look at is Westport, right on the coast. in general county mayo is rural, but there are towns that have a higher population so it's fairly easy to access to get groceries. my husband's family are from Irishtown village in co mayo, and they get groceries in Claremorris. he also has family in Castlebar co mayo, as well as Dublin 6, co Dublin.

It wont be cheapest for long if you promulgate it because price relies upon demand. Higher demand = higher rent. When you come to our country...try your best not to fk the place up by inviting everyone else here
@WineAndRum9 ай бұрын
I hear you. Culturally, when you love a place you want people to come and experience it. We'd invite anyone to visit/live in Austria/Barbados (if you can afford it). But supply/infrastructure hasn't kept up with the demand. So yeah, demand is raising prices. This video is 3 years old made in the height of the pandemic. At that time, our friends Irish and non-Irish were wondering where to go to escape the rising rents. This video helped some of them find a better place to live, so no regrets there.
