The city of Sterling Illinois bulldozed up a hilly area full of flint and stone artifacts. Truckloads of artifacts hauled off like trash. The area is a park now - not as nice as it was when us kids found arrow heads, beads , broken pottery etc. This wasn't done in 1920 - it was done in 2010 by the local government.

That's unfortunate. Not too many sites remaining any longer.

Interesting. I am a young civil engineer our projects can be halted when anything of significance is uncovered during earthwork.
