Wing Chun is mostly categorized as a striking art, but the Chisao game on this video has a grappling vibe which is shown in wrestling/Judo game. While it is indeed true the primary weapon of Wing Chun is striking, Chisao is very similar to 'gripping game' of wrestling/Judo. Recently Wing Chun has a bad reputation but I don't think Wing Chun Chisao is a bullshido. Assuming one knows how to use it properly, it can be functional especially when mixed with other arts. I believe if someone has understanding on modern boxing and wrestling, Wing Chun Chisao is definitely applicable: and this is my personal opinion on how to modernize Wing Chun. I am glad there is someone out there who actually tries it.

Chi Sao teaches you sticking which comes in handy when you get hard pressure coming in. In the end, it is just one skill of fighting. When I sparred against kickboxing guys who didn't give me that kind of hard arm contact pressure and stayed out of my range striking, it was more useful for me to develop footwork to close in which is when all your day 1 wing chun stuff becomes useful again.

AWESOME!!! Good for CJ putting it too the test. I do not like these for proving techniques effectiveness as to much time is spent with both peoples elbows and hands on eachothers face, but without consequences from such. Hoi Wah Ho seems to dominate but CJ has a hand on his throat a lot, For example: From :11 to :14 who is to say which of those neck chops/face faks would give the other guy advantage at full contact level? HWH has better ring performance skills and cardio,....got to run the show.

At the end of the day this is sparring between two friendly practitioners, we're not trying to KO each other or harm each other, a real fight would look very different of course!

@@DrTzeus sorry, not sure we are following what you are claiming about! This is a video showing how to apply Wing Chun in a Gor Sau freestyle manner. This is our way of doing by adding kicks and knees and clinch. Which is what we believe is the best and most effective way of making your Wing Chun work and applied 😁👌 thanks for watching!

like so many WC practitioners, this was all crude upper body, with a complete lack of horse, footwork and no body unity discipline at all. if you've only been doing it for 6 months to a year or so, then that's ok, lots of time to improve. if you've been doing it longer, then you need to rework it all from the ground up.
