Master Wong did what he is expected to do in kung fu, He made it his own. He obviously is very talented The moves and sequence are not the same as yipmans. He is teaching his version or his sifus version apparently. Which is good for him or someone who wishes to learn his system. There is no right or wrong way as long as the crucial principals are applied. They can even be improved upon. It is art plain and simple.

I always wanna the wing chun movements in detail,and THIS IS IT, thank you very much,nice vid.

@abraxnos yeah ur right, i reckon footwork is the most important thing in every field,no matter its martial art or any sport you could mention,hoops ,soccer,or tennis.but this is part 1,just some basic movements extracted from his dvds.hope Master Wong would upload more about wingchun vids,especially in elementary arm and foot training.

Biu Zi or siu lim tau, at the end all techniques are found to be useful.. {although i agree... The "Moving the palm up and down" part (wrist movement) threw me off}

when speaking of tension,what u are seeing is his manifestation of "ging" on the end of his strikes. it is instantly then relaxed again. he is not tensed.
@MikeS24-v4s14 жыл бұрын
@OverFjell Its not the Ip man Version of Wing Chun,So its going to be different and done slightly different,just because his form doesn't look like the way you were taught or the way I was taught doesn't necessary make him wrong or us right.
@abraxnos14 жыл бұрын
@shenjinyou Your correct but what I ment was internal structure without which all arm movements are pretty useless as ppl gotta rely on strength for power which is not quite the way,Ive done wing chun but only got effortless power after learning tai chi.all the best
@navjotsingh24627 жыл бұрын
Which is better for dangerous fighting -- shaolin kung fu, wing chun, tai chi.

Question: is Sifu or Master? Master Wong is a great teacher of Wing Chun. Send more videos please.
@fdesa1214 жыл бұрын
hmm, I thought some of Wing Chun's principles were to be efficient and simple... So I'm just wondering why in his application segment, he attacks on the 3rd movement, when he should have done that within the first two blocks. Simultaneous attack and defend right? My only other guess would be that he's showcasing an application of the biu gee form, which I haven't learned yet.

I can actually say that Wing Chun is the most customizable kung fu here in the world... i mean, lots of WC masters have different kung fu variations of wing chun. Leung Bik was exiled because he modified WC more effective to him, Chan Wah Shun stayed with the traditional one though

@TheMartialartsJedi okay, sure i hear what you say. but surely the most fundamental principle in wing chun is the importance of relaxation?? yet this guy seems to tense every single muscle in his body every time he strikes. whats up with that?

My question to you: In a real fight can you really chase hands. Its seems too fast to follow a skilled fighters hand such as a quick jab.
@bradpack934010 жыл бұрын
its not chasing hands, its parrys to the same effect as boxing but from a completely defensive perspective. block attack combined not chase chase chase punch,, look at tan sau & punch vs a hook and youll get what im saying
@roguewho10908 жыл бұрын
you have a point but no one can determine in which direction a fight can go in other words its unpredictable :)
@kingdomseekers61644 жыл бұрын
Foot movement, anticipation and shifting works in street fight or dojo. Reflexes and ability of practitioner matters most. Time slows down if your training is on point. Your mind doesn’t know the difference if you are really training for a street fight also. The mind goes I’ve seen this and you instinctively react. This level of ability won’t be learned in a two day class.

I trained under Sifu Victor Kan briefly in the nineties and again more recently. I learnt the full first form. I then saw the clean Yip Man footage of Siu Nim Tao. It was exactly what I had been taught, with the exception of one Palm strike, which should have been an eye jab. No-one disputes Yip Man's authenticity. The form shown here is not correct. I also take issue with Master Wong for his 'challenge any boxer' claim. Surely someone must have taken him up by now..? Where is the video showing him taking the guy apart? A street fight is very easy to arrange and would add some credibility to his 'claims.' In one demonstration he demonstrated blocking a punch with an outside crescent kick. Any fool can tell you that unless he has precognition, an arm strike, unless rehearsed, will reach a head more quickly than a leg block...ridiculous! I will quite happily fight him on the basis that he will only block my punches with leg kicks...and I'm VERY rusty...Bring it on!
@bradpack934010 жыл бұрын
he recommends it from a longer range punch and honestly i hate he challenged anyone because if it never happens that makes his generally effective style seem fraud because of some jack ass tough man contest

Typical 'he'll destroy you.' Comment. Strange how someone can make that assertion without even knowing my fighting ability. Strange also how someone apparently so deadly and effective hasn't made a huge impact in the extremely lucrative MMA fighting circuits. As I said before, if he promises to block my punches, knee, elbow and head strikes with only his legs, as per the video, I'll happily fight him.
