@@tristintaylor7999 pain can be turned off through drugs alcohol or sheer toughness compliance through pain techniques are weak unless they snap something or cut of oxygen. Plus as you said you have to find the right place on a person... average fight lasts 2-5 seconds. This hard nearly impossible technique to pull off successful with the results you want that puts you off balance in the process just doesnt cut it.

For this to work, sticking and twisting force implied. In Taijiquan this power is generated from the feet, travels through the legs, controlled by waist, multiplied through the back, circulate through the arms and expressed through the hands and fingers. Every bendable appendage is a potential power reserve. From the feet to the fingers.

Wing Chun is a good theoretical concept of elbow/hip But fighting is fluid on all levels WC fails in sparring against all round fighter. Bruce Lee knew this. Having taught WC now believe it's a concept that should be taught quickly. 3 years max. Don't waste years learning a bong sau etc techniques that have limited use in fighting. Absorb what is useful discard the rest and get skilled at bjj wrestling boxing etc. WC is too cerebral for sparring. It works in a stand up fight but only if adapted to suit yourself. It's futile trying to copy an instructor. Everyone's WC concept has to be incorporated into their own unique fighting style. WC isn't a style it's a concept. And an incomplete one

I say why bother fighting them with your fists in the first place as where I live you are always Outnumbered they are cowards that will not fight one-on-one so you have to use a more deadly tactic which doesn't sit well with me but so be it when I was growing up and man stood and fought another man without weapons I don't know what as happening to people today as car loads of people will just pull up jump out and beat you half to death I call these people subhuman gutless cowards where have all the real men gone why do they do such things I think the best thing you should do when they pull up is run for your life as they cannot run very far one will never break in front of the Pack because he knows you all turn around and he knows it cannot handle that what a life

I used to take wing Chun and unless you have superman reflexes, this stuff is pretty unrealistic as far as deflecting punches. I was taught to grab arms as they were being thrown at me to punch with my other hand at the same time. In theory it is effective, but this is probably the hardest art to master if we were to actually make it realisitic.

I boxed for a number of years And then did a bit of wing Chung There was also shaolin fighters there One point I will make is they don’t exchange shots they don’t spar This is critical I saw one guy get tagged a bit in a drill accidentally and he did not know how to react A boxer does Ok a normal untrained man or women might not know how to react either but boxers are conditioned A strong box fighter would walk through some of this stuff Any ways just the way I look at it and not trying to say I know everything but I can throw many punches with a lot less effort and more power than the wing Chung punches And if I want I got a head and elbows and knees I can get in also Sometimes I don’t like it when people say boxing is a sport yes it is but with no gloves on it’s not

Most comments I see r saying block like that won't work. The man is simply showing an example, take what you can from it, don't have to do exactly what he does in every fight. Just take just the elbow movement by itself without following up with the slap it'll still work, apply that with your boxing or whatever other martial you do.

Bruce Lee's base was Wing Chun. Wing Chun has some fantastic principles and can make an excellent base for anyone seeking to be primarily a striker. You just have to do what Bruce did and strip away all the inessential's & take only that which is most effective and mix in Western Boxing & Muay Thai. But the stances, motion, flow, redirection, balance and ability to generate great power in short distances of Wing Chun can be amazing benefits added to any strikers arsenal.

All one need do is simply read the Tao of Jeet Kune Do and have a look at the date it was written to understand he created modern MMA. The fact the man was that far ahead of everyone else suggests to me that he would have whipped most people's ass at that time. Just look at how MMA has evolved today and he was 20 years ahead of everyone else.

New students feel the pain of the first real Pak Sao they experience on their forearm including myself who screamed out in pain. After a few years of training it's no problem. Some of your MMA gung-ho heroes probably started off in Wing Chun or other. Some didn’t they took a short cut and just came into MMA with little knowledge, but how to scrap in an 8 sided ring with little respect for the huge contributions of traditional martial arts to MMA.

WC isn't a fighting style its a concept of elbow/wrist essentially Fighting is fluid on all levels. WC fails at sparring becasue people interpret & try to spar with it literally. Don't waste years learning a bong sau etc instead practice MMA. When I taught WC I used to incorporate other styles and people would criticize trying to prove WC would beat everything. That's nonsense. You cant WC your way out of a rear naked choke boxers punch flurrys or ground & pound. WC works in a stand up brawl but against crafty fighters who know how to move forget it. Bruce Lee knew this. WC is a concept that should be taught quickly 3 years max complete system. Any longer is frankly a waste of time. Absorb what's useful discard the rest. Bruce Lee discovered MMA years ago the world just wasn't ready to absorb it. Therefor in some regard WC is the mother of MMA. But it isn't a style and it isn't effective in a fight without a fighters own interpretation of the concepts expressed through other styles better suited to proper sparring

If you were an expert kicker, how about one to the knee BEFORE coming within arm hand range?

Remember folks 80% of contemporary real world fights...Happen in the KZbin comment section...Where this particular technique will be ineffective as your opponent will be coming at you from various angles and will keep coming no matter how much you strike, block, or parry. Wing Chun is good and only experts that train for years will show it's potential like Bruce Lee did.

Been a huge fan of wing chun for its visual artistic approach. I’ve also been an mma fighter and learned fast my years of tai Kwon do would be shut down by good wrestling, shoot fighting and jiujitsu and though I could kick someone’s head off , it was much harder to gain contact with these hybrid fighters. Fact is Wing Chun was designed for the smaller framed shorter fighters. It simply doesn’t work against many other styles and much larger opponents, with those skills. Kung Fu is the most beautiful style imo having trained in fatal flute and fighting staff (weapons style) I really appreciate the arts and have tried to incorporate it into mma but it’s hard to do if you want to win. Nowadays the best fighting is wrestling with ground and pound and jiujitsu imo. But wing chun works when your kicked in the balls and that’s something right there.

Just step into a boxing ring. They’ll teach you everything you need to know about NOT using Wing Chun in a real fight…😜

The sifu makes sense but it only applies if the attacker is punching in that fashion. I don't think it would work for straight jabs, crosses, hooks or upper cuts. Wing Chun does work but under certain conditions as Bruce states. That's why he made JDK.

I agree MMA has an advantage with grappling, but I have literally been in fights with multiple attackers. You ain't submitting a guy when his buddy is trying to cave your ribs with a kick, so you damn well better have striking in your repertoire if you get jumped.

Ufc is too danger for him, may be he can start with a amateur kickboxing or boxing match. Let's see if he can handle a well trained amateur boxer with his amazing blocking skills.
