There's an irrational assumption that boxing and Wing Chun are antithetical and that you can't do both. The problem with this is that without safe sparring there's no way to develop timing and accuracy. Moreover, there's no better way than boxing to get a chance to see punches coming at you. That's a critical skill! But what about infighting? What about life-or-death type struggles where anything and everything goes...where no target or tactic is off the table? Well, that's where Wing Chun comes in. And the number one drill that Wing Chun gives us to make sure we can function under pressure at this range (infighting) is chi-sao.
This is why we advocate for doing both - so long as you have professional and experienced coaches and instructors. Training should be logical and goal directed. It should be safe too! Realistic and real aren't the same thing. Anyway, check out the video to learn more.
