Great video , I am still learning I wish you had a beginners video on getting on the foil and foil control . I have a 120 litre board with a Armstrong 1600 v1 foil and weigh 80kg with 5.5 wing lots of people take the Mic , but no help I am pumping the wing and board .

Hi, I'll ask the Kings and see if we can help

best advice for getting on the foil is : Make sure you have plenty of wind around 20 mph. This allows you to be inefficient with your technique and minimises the time you are likely to have to wallow or as some call it ‘taxi’ waiting for stronger gusts. Don’t spend long on your knee’s when starting .. simply climb on to the board, in a splayed wide knee position with front hip open towards the front of the board not dead across the board in a praying position .. grab the wing or leash if the wing is too far away and bring it in close to the downwind rail If the board. Push on the wing to take a moment to get stability and then lift the wing up and clear of the water.. get your hands set on the two handles / boom and whilst sheeting in a little now stand up .. don’t lean off the wing or lean off the board just stand up nice and straight over the board .. Push the board with a repetitive pushing motion off the wind to get it unstuck from the water surface tension as you pump the wing to get the board speed increasing. Focus initially on increasing the board speed before attempting to pump your back foot to induce foil lift / flight. Some smaller area foils will give you a false premature lift if you pump them at to low a board speed. This lift is unsustainable and will result in the board dropping off the foil shortly after. You need to let the board and foil increase their speed before a subtle back foot pump to induce foil lift and flight. As soon as you feel the lift reduce your back foot pressure and increase front foot pressure to around 70% front 30% rear .. stand tall and relax. When flying on the foil you only need about 40% of the wind power you needed to get onto the foil so you can sheet out and relax your back arm controlling the wings power. In my opinion it is easy to over sheet a wing so I rarely use the handle furthest back and find my wings perform far better if I allow them to stay more sheeted out. I’ll try to do a video soon 👍😊

Hello, I would like to ask the rider, on which leg is his center of gravity? I noticed that he takes the weight off the back leg. Great, informative video!🤙

Hi, yes on from my experience the balance between foot pressure and weight is around 70% front foot to 30% back foot. You can move your rear foot forward more at which point it can take a more balanced proportion of your weight. Once the foil is flying you need very little pressure on it if you have drive from your wing. If the wind is light and you loose that drive or through some transitions you may need to maintain foil flight by pumping the foil which will then require a fluctuation of rear foot pressure followed by front foot pressure to generate lift through that ‘up and down’ motion of the hydrofoil front wing
