Wing Foiling in Melbourne | Tacks & Starfishing ⭐🐠

Wingin' in Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay during the Winter. Leigh Thorne & Tom Saunders hunting the bay chop. Coming up to a year of Wing Foiling and we are now able to land tacks and sometimes we can do Alan Cadiz's Starfish when it's really windy, which you will see in this video.
This day was gusting 30kt at times and it was super hard to fly the drone, so you will see some jumps in the footage as the gimbal reaches its limit! The drone is like a cut snake in sports mode.
This upcoming summer in Melbourne is going to go crazy with wingers everywhere. Can't wait!

Start with toeside tacks. Very satisfying when you can do them. It’s mainly about the wing

@@wingfoillife3901 u mean going toe sided, then tack to heel side? I'd feel more comfortable trying it that way. Easier to recover while being heel side after the tack, rather than tacking from heel aide to toe. I'll try it tonight, heading out in hour and half.

@@wingfoillife3901 I'm currently sitting on my recliner recovering from fridays very windy session and 2 sessions yesterday. I really over did it, but did learn to tack! I must have tried over 50 times, during the 3.5 hrs, and few times managed not to fall in water; quite the work out. The issue I had was not switching my hands quickly enough to have enough power yo pull me out after the turn. But I will get there.

Some nice work there. You made the starfish move look easy…loved how you flipped the wing back over so easily. How are you loving the Ensis wing…it looked very balanced. How would you rate it compared to other wings. Also what size wind, conditions and if you don’t mind your rider weight?

Ensis wings are very well made. Cabrinha Mantis wings also well balanced too. It was about 15kts this day and Leigh with the green ensis 3.5m weighs like 75kg I think
