@@h_msk I agree with you to an extent but the tools being great are what enable the artist to achieve their vision. So it's an accomplishment for the artists and the tools. Yes, people need to stop thinking that just because software is open source and doesn't cost the price of a house, that makes it bad. Blender is still very studio grade.
@MangaGamified
@MangaGamified Жыл бұрын
@@fragmister Funny, the reason movies switch to VFX is because of the *cost* and safety concerns. A specific scene in The Shining (1980) cost $50k on the cheap, but realistically, $100k incase of unforeseen costs. If it's CG it would cost $14~20K. You can skim the video "CGI vs Real - Can you tell the difference" to know more. "Industry" standard subscriptions ain't getting cheaper, infact it's the exact opposite. As time goes on, the subscriptions would just keep piling up on the price, while Blender historically, just keeps getting better.

@@cyonu5675 For one, I really like it and it adds character. And I'm not talking specifically this style of 2D/3D shown in the video. Games like Sifu and Stray have flat paintered textures which gives it a semi 2D feel. Other examples are first Life is Strange, Bayonetta Origins, Valkyrie Chronicles series, Guilty Gear Strive, Valorant, the upcoming Prince of Persia, and Hi-Fi Rush. Not every game needs to be like this but I wouldn't mind if more were.

I saw somewhere that this portraits very well a developer/artist interaction in the Blender community, and it makes A LOT OF SENSE. While the developers are wanting to make sure that the features [0:54] are working perfectly fine until we're ready to use in a serious/big production -- or flying in this case [1:25] --, most of us, artists, want to take charge and dig into all the tools we see [0:45], even if they are not optimized or fixed, which causes many crashes, just like the space shuttle did [2:44]. Fortunately, in the community we are not piloting a literal space shuttle, so we are allowed to crash it as many times as we want, so we can acknowledge the developers what's wrong and what can be fixed.

It's animations like this that actually cause this art to imitate life. That dog is like me using Blender at my studio for the first time and being like; holy shit I can make anything with this, while the others are just baffled and a bit left behind; and the red button is AI art and dream textures. Even the using all your blender knowledge to do some trick to make sense of a broken project... until your render crashes. It's just so weirdly relevant.

Thanks for sharing this short film. The visuals are funny. Sound effects and music are spot on. Characters are relatable. The make-a-list-first-then-follow-it person versus try-everything-first-then-list-it person could be spouse, sibling, or good friend. The imaginative sci-fi gags remind me of several old cartoons like "Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a half Century", "Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genuis", and "Phineas and Ferb".
