Thank you very much for providing such a great resource for learning WingTsun! I am learning from your videos since approx. one year and I really value your detailed explanations. (I am practicing WingTsun since nine years.) Wishing you all the best!

Great to watch. Whilst others are still twirling their short staffs this will poke you in the groin from a distance to far to strike back. This must be one of the few forms that probably is not linked to army or monk training as it was borrowed from boatmen who developed it to defend themselves. Wing Chun was developed for close quarter urban combat so this long staff form is for just that and any fancy moves will be impractical. This must be a great strength building form. Our class teaches a staff form, chuji gun shu, but it is borrowed and incorrect.

the short stuff is both faster and more accurate, but this has range. I actually wanna go to a wing chun school now with a shorter stuff, and try fighting their long stuff and see what the result will be! i imagine that long stuff style is for fighting with spearhead weapons, and short staff style is for fighting with weapons that have a blade at the top

Excuse me if I am commenting out of turn, knowing little to nothing of what you are doing (so pls correct me where wrong); however, watching over and over again, and comparing the bit of knowledge I _do_ have regarding stance and form, there are number of visual 'flaws' that I would point out, if I am correct at all in pointing them out: 1. First being the opening thrust of the pole, in that all of the physical movements should be applicable without the pole itself. I note that you do not turn your arm/wrist as you would normally thrusting a jab. Your wrist should be pointing inward, not upward, turning the pole as you thrust, otherwise (a) risking injury and (b) being unprotected, were the wrist struck here you'd instantly be disarmed. 2. Ma Bu is weak and uneven esp. at the thrust. You'd easily be uprooted 3. @2:06 Examine your R foot. All of your control of the pole should come from upper body strength, not lower extremity leverage. At this point (it seems) the pole is controlling _you._ You are relying too much on its weight to ground you, so that for too long almost all of your weight is on the left. You are literally in the air. The pole could easily be wrestled from you and you thrown to the ground trying to hold it.

There's maybe a retractile or jointable pole to buy online? Just to take it with me, because the one I have at home is 2,70mt and so... quite hard to take with me around

This is all wrong. From start he does not measure the pole under his right arm.

That is a very pedantic point. More crucially every thrust is being telegraphed by retracting before the thrust and also moving forward before thrusting. A very bad habit to ingrain into your movement. Fight like this and your opponent will quickly see and beat you easily. Shows the practitioner's lack of real combat experience.

As opposed to you who have extensive experience of real fights with a long staff. Fucking dickhead

Usually Wing Tsun, spelled with the letters "WT" implies that it came from the Leung Ting branch of the Yip Man lineage, yet this bears little to no resemblance to the "WT" luk dim boon kwun in sequence or detail. The movements seem much larger, more telegraphed and vary in many details such as in using a palm-up grip with the rear hand when thrusting. This is considered risky and wrong within the "WT" branch.
