I realize this is a few years old but this is a great tutorial. Also--you don't need to explain yourself to naysayers---your videos are great and addresses a very unique problem for a lot of women. I love watching makeup tutorials but none of them but yours have actually been useful for my hooded eyes. Thank you for your work!

First off let me say, I don't think you have given hooded eyes a bad name, rather, you have brought them to the forfront and showed us ways of showcasing them and making the most of them with your excellent techniques. Your tutorials have helped many of us not dread makeup anymore because our eyes are not the same and we have to find a different method of application. You have shown us that not only is that possible but our eyes can look very beautiful and this video is no different! Great tips, great techniques and just all around good advice! Thank you so much, once again for sharing your knowledge with us!

Well, you are just brilliant. No one understood the broken wing syndrome quite like you or took the time to break it down. Loved this tutorial and I subbed 10 min. ago. Giving hooded eyes a bad name? Hahaha thats pretty hard to do, its not like they are a good thing. I have hooded eyes pretty much the same as you, and frankly I agree with you watch a nineteen year olds tutorial and see how that works out for you... not a good look so from a 41 year old hooded eye gal... THANK YOU for all your wonderful tutorials and keep staying true to you!

I was a teenager and had hooded eyes. I'm 28 now and still have to live with them. They get worse as you age. Mine are genetic not just from aging. It sucks watching girls in the same age bracket do their makeup and when I'd do it, it looked nothing like theirs. However then I learned the joy of the cut crease from watching asian girls do their makeup. That with the combination of doing eyeliner a certain way you can get around the hood problem. You have to adjust the tutorial to make it work on a hood.

wow. thank you so, so much for addressing those of us who have hooded eyes. i have several youtube makeup gurus that i watch and i do love the looks they demonstrate, but it is essentially impossible to get the same winged eyeliner look as they do with my hooded eyes. very, very, very frustrating. it is so helpful to see you addressing this issue and helping us by giving tips on ways we can try to still achieve a version of winged eyeliner that looks nice. it is also amazing to hear someone describe the broken wing issue that we hooded ones deal with!!!! sigh! thanks so much!

I don't think you give hooded eyes a bad name. I have struggled with them my whole life doing makeup..well specifically shadow and liner, not necessarily mascara. And yet I love my hooded eyes. I look at my eyes and I am reminded of all my relatives from Eastern Europe! My Dad's Polish side my Mom's Ukrainian side..this is not uncommon there! So yes they can be romantic or like "bedroom eyes" as my Mama always said, but they def are challenging when attempting to do certain makeup looks. You have some of the prettiest eyes out there Nisha, and all the hooded eye tutorials are why I subbed initially. Ironically with all your wig reviews that I never needed before..... I now have autoimmune issues AND I am on Tamoxifen, so I have eyelash loss and hair loss now, and all the wig videos are very useful too! 💗🙏🌺

This is one of the best tutorials that covers a lot of points for us women with hooded eyes. Eyeliner is hard to do because if that crease, you're absolutely correct. I'm going to sit and try each one this weekend and find a better version of my eyeliner. I've tried gel, felt, pencil, and liquid but never could get it right. Now I'm confident I will get a huge improvement with your techniques, thank you so much. Great video! I'm sharing it on my Twitter.

Thanks for the tips, you are so talented Nisha!! When I don't have much time, I like to take a pencil liner (UD 24/7 are the best, smudge proof!!) and drag it along the top lash line and out instead of up "underneath" the fold (more cat-eye like as you said), goes super-quick and doesn't have to be too precise!! xx

Hi ! As a fellow "victim" of the dreaded hooded eye, I wanted to say thank you for your help and for just saying we can't all be walking around with the perfect "flick", sometimes, no matter how much you want it, you just can't have it, and that's okay. I watched your video for the second time to make sure I had all your little tips and tricks down,I also needed to see which products you used, and then I just went ahead and tried the winged eyeliner for myself. I'm very happy with the end result! I believe I ended up with a bit more of a "cat eye" as opposed to a real "wing" but I had to work with what I've got, and that's okay because it looks awesome. I will continue to practise and watch your videos for your fantastic advice. Thank you! Nisha xox

when i was a youngster, i had no idea about eyelid (for the lack of a better word) categories. now that i'm aware of what's going on, i've noticed the differences. there are plenty celebrities (young and old) that are mostly hooded. all that to say, there is no norm when it comes to eyelids (if that makes any sense). we've just got to work with what we've got. it's like having thighs that touch no matter how skinny we are. (hope you know what i mean). LOL, no gap thighs, no crease eyelids, it is what it is! that's why i greatly appreciate your tutorials, which provide exceptional insight. from one hoodie to another, thanks!

This was so helpful and informative for the "hoodie gang". Loved the bit re if your hoods are so droopy that you have to lift them up, that'll be me soon I'm sure! You said you may as well give up re winged liner, I say put a bag on your head, it's all over!! hehe!! What fun we have to look forward to as we grow old disgracefully! Joan x

STANDS UP, DANCES AND CHEERS FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!! Some wonderful person (who I will thank later :)) suggested you when I commented on Tiffany D's video asking for hooded lid tutorials. That was several hours ago. Your videos are awesome!!! I have tried and tried to practice, but it never looked right, and getting them even should be a tutorial in itself!! Thank you for noting that it may never look perfect when your face is relaxed but that is ok!! I am excited to try your different methods. I subscribed. Happy New Year to you!! xoxo from California (WOO HOO i am very excited to have discovered you :P)

Thank you so much for these videos. I have struggled with wearing any shadows because I have hooded eyes. So I use mascara and only put liner on the outer corners lower and upper. So glad I now have tips and tools to use when I want to use shadow. Awesome.

I do love a pretty winged liner on a youthful eye. But I learned that I just don't have the eyes for it any longer. For all the reasons you showed. I have learned and perfected the technique of pushing a dark shadows into my lashes to define the lash line, that doesn't magnify the downward curve of the outer corners. Also, for me....even if I manage a nice line and flick with liquid liner... even a brown looks too harsh and closes my eye. So I'm one of those who substitute's a makeup trend for a makeup 'what works' . As sad as that is...there comes a time you just have to go with that. :)

I have learned so much from you! I make my wing like you did at first with the twist up pencil. I have dark hair and I find use the dark brown it works better. The black is too harsh and accentuates my hoods even more for me. I never thought about not going all the way to the end of the eye before you go up. I put a little bit of white very light highlighter at the bottom under the line too like Marilyn Monroe did. It lifts it up a bit. Oh wow the Goss move is a good one. I will try that today! :) I learned a lot from your video Nisha! Thank you! X Becki
