Metallica is an amazing band, I've listened to them much more, and love them for what they are, but not a single member of Metallica could play or sing a single song from Winger. Lars is terrible and couldn't play the drums, Kirk could in no way play those solo's from Rebb, and James couldn't sing the vocals for shit. Cliff could definitely play the bass parts, but that's about it, and unfortunately he is no longer with us.

I was actually quite impressed with Paul's guitar skills. In all the Winger album credits, he's credited with rhythm guitar and keyboards only -- never any lead guitar. Based on this live performance, it made me wonder why he didn't get to flex his chops and play more lead guitar on the Winger albums, because he can definitely hold his own

nicolas sosolic absolutely eddie is probably why reb and so many others bothered starting.....but i do think rebs songwriting with kip is timeless too....if you try the karma album or pull and their newest one....i think you will agree....some of that stuff will stand right up....theres more to these guys than they get credit for

I got a tapping lesson from him. He was doing a solo album and seminars. I got a chance to ask him about his way of tapping during an autograph session. He was very kind and made sure I understood what he was doing. He had no ego and he is very down to earth.

The manufactured feud between Winger and Metallica has people comparing apples and oranges. Yes, Reb Beach is a more technically proficient guitarist than Kirk Hammett. But when you walk into Guitar Center, it aint Winger riffs you hear being played by every kid in the store. And it aint Winger songs being covered left and right by every KZbin musician.

Part of the reason you hear so much Metallica riffing is it's easy. Few guys have the chops to pull off Reb Beach stuff. Reb is many times the lead guitarist Kirk is. Take Kirk's wah from him and he would be in trouble.
