Thank you! Would it be accurate to say that a bar with a roller is the easiest to release from (quickly)?

Yes, better than a Kite style hook.

Alan: I am trying to decide on board liters versus my weight. I've been told by a couple of local wing retailers that he board liters should be half my body weight in lbs. I am just learning to use my wing on a SUP. I would prefer to not buy a bigger board and have grown out of it in 6 months. Another factor, I live inland NC with lighter winds than the coast. Look forward to your advice. Thanks AB
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29263 жыл бұрын
Aloha August, I think the general rule of thumb is one liter per kilo. one kilo = 2.2 pounds. So if you weigh 180 pounds you should have an 80 liter board. But of course itisn not that simple. Add a few liters if you are a novice, or the wind is light or spotty where you sail. The lighter the board the better. Also for lighter wind you want a board with harder edges and straighter rocker. I would lean toward a bigger board because you will learn faster and in the current market you should be able to sell it quickly on the second hand market. Hope this helps you decide. Are these the new Fanatic Sky Wing boards or is it a prone board? The nose seems to pointy to be one of the Wing boards
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29264 жыл бұрын
Yes Fanatic Sky wing board. I suppose you could use it as a prone board but at 55 liters it would be too big for me.

Thoughts on whether a harness would work if your wing has hand holds instead of an aluminum boom? Have a slingshot wing coming.
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29264 жыл бұрын
Yes I think so. You just need the type of harness lines that wrap around the handles with velcro. You will have to move them around till you find the balance point.

I use one all the time on my Fone Swing as I have a 3km run to the swell spot saves my energy for the waves

Hi Alan, any points on seat vs wast harness here? Perhaps with bigger (e.g. 6m) wing seat harness would position wing too low?
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29263 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike, No, I tried my old chest harness first thinking the same thing. But because you really only use it going up wind a seat harness works fine. I always used a seat harness in my windsurf day because a waist harness gave me back pain. Im sure a waist harness would be fine.

love the videos, I notice that you have moved to a much smaller board.
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29263 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robin, The board in this harness video is actually bigger and newer then the one I used in the high wind water start video. It is 55 litters and the small one 33 liters.

Hi Alan, i am thinking of converting my Echo booms to fixed length carbon booms, is there a marked improvement in performance by doing this?
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29263 жыл бұрын
If your finish carbon boom is lighter than the stock boom, Yes. and stiffer is better. You might have noticed the adjustable outhaul on my setup. I pull it tighter when fully powered and loosen it when the wind it lighter. Not mandatory but convenient.
@kevinloudon64433 жыл бұрын
@@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 Thanks Alan, agreed stiffness vs weight, i have come across this product www.rockwestcomposites.com/45355, do you think this product produced to these specs is stiff enough.

@@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 Did you really mean 55 Liters? Looks bigger if you can stand on that without sinking it???
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29264 жыл бұрын
@@briansangeorzan4986 Yes 55 liters. I only weight about 140lbs. and yes it will sink if I come to a complete stop. As long as I moving ahead even slowly ahead it will stay above the water.

@@alancadizwingfoilinginstru2926 Amazing how you can you use that smallish board in medium winds. Considering your weight, what is the minimum wind strength to plane with that board using a size 5 wing? Keep up the vids!

Why a harness??? Wing Foiling needs no power in your Arms........it is so easy
@alancadizwingfoilinginstru29264 жыл бұрын
You don't NEED a harness but if you like to sail powered up, or sail for hours at a time, or race your friend upwind, or rest your arms, or pick your nose while winging then you might WANT to try a harness.
@ozoneflysurfer94914 жыл бұрын
Also a harness saves your energy for the waves and when you need to pump with the added benefit of seeing how your wing should fly when you don't muscle it with your arms. This greatly improved my riding. Also a good place to connect your board leash if you don't like ankle leash wrapping around your foil
@danyak1014 жыл бұрын
@@ozoneflysurfer9491 You connect your board leash to the harness line? First I have heard of that, I may have to try but not in high winds or the Columbia maybe:)
@ozoneflysurfer94914 жыл бұрын
No connect the board leash to the back of your harness not the harness line. Most kite harnesses have a handle pass leash attachment on the back that's what I use keeps the leash out of the water and from wrapping around the foil. The more wind the better :)
@danyak1014 жыл бұрын
@@ozoneflysurfer9491 Yes I do that already, ok that's different than the harness line. Thank you for clarifying.
