Once again Thank you Nigel, I have the Felixstowe Early, and now I have a helpful book at no great expense. That worked out well!

Brilliant work on those decals and an awesome book highlight Nige. Thank you for sharing. I’m glad I have the late model Felixstowe kit in my stash but I don’t know when I will have the courage to tackle it. Gary is such a skilled modeller and his digital book is a superb roadmap to the build so it is on my shopping list. 😀

Excellent info as always Nige, I used the Mr Hobby Setter & Softer on the rudder decals of the Max Immelmann version of this and the Junkers D1 corrugated rudder and they also seemed to go down great…but that was likely more chance as I like the Mr Hobby solutions and had headed your previous concerns on MicroSet/Sol with these decals so will carry on with these solutions after this test👍🏻 I just got the new formula Mr Setter in the round bottles that doesn’t look as milky as the original to play with

Loving Wingnut wings Wednesday Nigel. Glad to see you have rescued the little Fokker and have the decals finally laid down.

Awesome video again Nigel ! Actually I like the 2 shades of green one on the wings and the other on the fuselage! It will look fantastic when you have completed the kit . Take care ! 👍🏻

You'll be so chuffed with the outcome when it's finished you'll forget the pain! I have purchased Gary's book although I will never build a Felixstowe, I am sure there will be an absolute feast of techniques and tips transferable to any modelling subject.

You will not be sorry you got that book John. I am currently rigging the Fokker... I need to lie down!!

Thank you for the review Nigel. Very kind words indeed 😁 Just to reiterate to everyone that this is only available in electronic format - ie, an eBook. It is not a printed version. Cheers Gary

Just used aviatic decals for the first time. OMG not for the faint hearted. It’s more like a plastic coating and very delicate.

Hi Nigel, just wondering if you have any left of the rear anchor correction for the 1/200 Trumpeter Scharnhorst. Thanks

Sorry, not at the moment.

Hi Nigel. Great video and trial. Kotare recommends the same in their instructions, using thinned PVA. I did it on the spitfire and it works very well. I put some Microset on the top for better bonding (I hope and guess).
@richardroberts26473 ай бұрын
A modeller of your experience should know you protect your decals with a clear or matt coat and then you can put tape on them without fear of lifting , to be fair Nige they are micro-thin decals and not stickers.
@NigelsModellingBench3 ай бұрын
Of course I know that, I also said that in the video, I was merely using the tape as a test to see which solution gave the best adhesion because used on my model they just peeled up on their own.

Tamiya have a product called ''Decal Adhesive Softener Type'' a friend of mine used it recently on decals that wouldn't stick down..maybe you could try some of that
@darronhedges58733 ай бұрын
Did you try the cloudy decal “lotion” one with blue lid.I used it on Junkers D1?…Mark setter neo! Just looked.And the mark softener Neo.I always use it first as doesn’t seem to hurt them,but that’s just small armour decals.

Unfortunately I cant get the Neo setting solution in Australia - have the older stuff though (which looks like a thinner PVA). However, before hearing that Microset/Microsol shouldn't be used on WNW models, I used them on my Brisfit. They have worked well, but I did notice the initial wrinkling on the large roundels, but they settled down. I haven't done the tape test though!
@NigelsModellingBench3 ай бұрын
The tape test is merely to show how poor the adhesion is and compare the solutions. I would never do this unless I really wanted to lift them.

@@NigelsModellingBench I was being a bit tongue in cheek! I was having enough trouble with unprimed Tamiya XF paint coming off with masking tape... Anyway, enjoying the group build.
