It was terrible to go through and from then on after his death I take everyday as a blessing as we can doing ok one moment and the your life can be shattered in a moment. I give to a cancer charity and also to a hospice where my dad lived the last couple of weeks. The staff there were incredible and made a huge difference not only to my dads life but they carried so much of the weight which was killing me at the time. They taught me how to grieve-a life skill which helped me more than words can ever say. Without them I would of collapsed just from the pain and anguish that I could not bare. We have the National Music Centre here in Calgary, Alberta and indeed, one of Neil's drum kits is on permanent display. It is downtown at 9 Ave and about 4 St. SE. Thank you for someone FINALLY pointing out the amount of footwork going on. So far, many of the other reviewers playing this video never mention (or notice) the different foot patterns being performed, while playing the drums above. Simply genius.

This is what long time friend Of Neil Peart's Kiss Drummer Peter Criss had to say on the loss of his long time friend. Original KISS drummer Peter Criss has paid tribute to RUSH's Neil Peart, who passed away on Tuesday (January 7) in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Criss took to his web site to write: "It is so devastating to say these words... I am so deeply saddened by the death of one of my brother drummers and dear friend. Neil was a hero to all of us drummers. He was a great man and a great musician. My heart goes out to Alex and Geddy for their loss and all the family, friends, and fans . May he rest in peace and be met by the lord in heaven. God Bless, Peter Criss" Several years ago, Criss said the first time he heard Neil's drumming was when RUSH opened for KISS in the 1970s. "Their [original] drummer just left," Peter said. "It was [Neil's] first night, I believe. He was amazing - so inventive." Peter added: "I love to watch Neil play. He is also a great songwriter. We just think he's one f'in great drummer!!! "If you really want to see what the drums are about... just go see Neil play.

Very nice. Rush gives Kiss a lot of credit for showing them the ropes early on and teaching them its a business and how to manage life on the road. Funny pair of friends considering the difference in their styles and shows.

Neal Peart, what a Drum Master, he was the driving force behind 'Rush', one of the greatest drummers on the planet, Rip Neil, you will be missed..... Great analysis on Neil, Filip, i had heard pretty much the same thing, also his writing of songs for the group, a very, very talented musician....

I never have ever paid neil the attention that he deserved. Ive always been a rush fan, but have never really sat down and gave him the silence and appreciation he most definitely deserved. Thank you for posting this video, it really showed just what a force of nature we lost

I enjoyed this clip Fil, thanks for taking time to put it together. I'm not a musician so I value your insight and how you break down and explain music & performances in your videos. Hearing your analysis on not just the performance here, but also sharing your thoughts on Neil as we all reflect on his passing is appreciated. He was a fascinating man and clearly a remarkably talented musician. I have no doubt his music will be enjoyed... and also studied... for so long as there are drummers picking up sticks for the first time.

I'm no musician, hell I tend to listen to old radio plays more than anything but I really enjoy your channel immensely. Your music choices are brilliant and I love your willingness to go way back and well as today. Mr. Peart is pure genius I might add.

Devastating, crushing news for this Neil Peart fan. As a fellow drummer i of course worship at the alter of Peart; but it was Neil's lyrics that really spoke to me and touched me the most. I was in the habit of bringing Rush lyrics for my Literature and English professors to read. Needless to say they were very impressed. Thanks Neil for sharing your gifts with the world.
