Why are we surprised that a musical production released has pitch correction done to it like the majority of music put out? Is it not a capella if they use compression and EQ and reverb, because that will change how the voice sounds. It’s shocking if something ISN'T touched by some kind of correction, and it doesn’t mean the vocalist isn’t talented or capable. This comment section is ignorant for pretending this makes her a vocalist who is incapable of hitting a note correctly. It's an incredible tool to assist musicians in creating great sounding music with many less takes, and allows it to fit in mixes better when heavy harmonies are present. If they released a version completely un-produced, everyone would make fun of how pitchy she sounds and say she ruined the song still. I'm not against more awareness about pitch correction, but this doesn't feel like it's helping the narrative around it more than giving people an excuse for demonizing an artist for not being "natural" and ironically perfect enough.

Sorry, but this version is garbage. These modern singers will never know what it means to serve a song. If they did, Tori wouldn't have changed a note in the melody, Did I say this is garbage?

Unfortunately confirmed my fears. I found the change from the pitch corrected lines to the "spoken" lines jarring. I knew something was off but couldn't describe it.

I think in addition to the pitch correction there’s some other processing on the voices that makes it sound weird. Maybe compressed? Idk but it’s really noticeable in that moment in defying gravity where it transitions from “I’m the one you want” and sounds sort of like a real voice to “it’s me” which sounds like she’s singing in a metal tube.

i think it’s semantics. what they meant was they’re recoding on set. i would expect the sound engineers to clean things up a bit

5:02 "So that raw and real EMOTION that we are recording on set right now, will be what you hear and experience in the theater." He's careful to say "emotion" not "vocal" in that video clip. Not technically false, but subjective at the very least. I had this conversation with one of my voice students the other day how when they say it was done "live", people just assume this means everything about the vocal has to be authentic AND it was all done in one take. It's quite misleading, and probably done intentionally. The only thing they are actually saying, though, is that the actors weren't lip syncing while shooting the scene. The vocal can still be treated in post (and was), and the song/scene can still be shot in many takes, broken into small sections for each take, but the only thing they're admitting to is that it wasn't ever lip synced.

Nobody sounds like Dimash , you imply quite a lot that his talent and hard work are auto tune and pitch correction . Sound engineers have been around well before the technology was invented . Getting your pitch from a piano is HABBIT for any professionally trained vocalist . Even perfect pitch individuals like Pavarotti need to hear it consistently as part of their training . The human voice is one of the most difficult instruments to master, it requires daily practice . You obviously didn't go to art school , kids that do know very well most live concerts use auto tune/ pitch correction . Not to mention they have you performing on stages regularly. The only field where they don't "filter" the sound as much is opera and even there they use a "lifting" style of broad amplification that does not amplify individual singers, merely adds a bit of cut or brightness to the acoustic to help with a poor pit balance . In Broadway musicals they call it " sweetening " the voice , they have sound engineers working .

In the past things were more or less "GENUINE" Fast forward to the 2000's and things are more or less "ILLUSSIONS" Modified Food = Genetically Modified Modified Vocals = Auto Tune Pitch corrected Modified Faces/Bodies = Plastic surgery and Botox Modified Body Building = Steroids/Growth Hormones

Catch up for me tonight. You are an incredibly diligent and patient teacher, Fil. Kudos to you for that. With everything else that you have going on, that's pretty amazing. Love your cover of Lay it on the Line. Such a tough one to do, and you do it so well! FYI, you have been setting likes goal records every Saturday since February 10th!! Yes, I am keeping track. 😁 It was 405 then.

This was an amazing livestream, Fil! I missed out on a couple of them because unfortunately, I was in the hospital unexpectedly. When you sang the “da da da da” about your hair, it was like a cross between “The Twilight Zone” and the Addams Family’s Cousin Itt. Your music and your enthusiasm is infectious! You mentioned about not being able to find your Christmas hat-if I’d known sooner, I’d have given you my Christmas elf hat.👒 Anyway, thanks again! Rock on, Fil! 🎸

I wasn't aware how connected to the government Fil's vocal tuning petition was. But, I did think that if we got to hundreds of thousands of signatures (light years away from that at the moment) then the subject of the petition would at least get noticed by the media, even if just social media. Because right now this is the only place on the internets(s) that I am aware of where there is a serious discussion going on about the undisclosed use of digital pitch correction on a (great) singer's voice, thereby sucking the life out of a song. The independence of the side project sounds like it could be the most effective way to address all of the pitch correction and Auto-Tune issues. Can't wait for its launch - hope there'll be a big press conference with a bunch of fairly well-known artists and producers/sound engineers who think like we do and still largely hear music with their ears instead of only seeing it with their eyes. In any event, it sounds like all of us subscribers will have our work cut out for us! :)

Lara Fabian is arguably the best singer of her generation - or any generation, for that matter. The fact that a producer thinks that they have to ‘fix’ her singing is hilarious

There's a point at witch you get so caught up in technicalities that you can't just enjoy something great. This was the first time your channel's ever been recommended, and yeah, I'm not looking any further. This comment section is positively ridiculous though, just some of the worst, most annoying takes on music in general. Y'all really need to get a life. Also if you think anyone in the music industry is going to release a song without any pitch correction, you're fooling yourself.

Like so much in our society, no one wants to put in the work to achieve. We just want the instant fix. Everyone gets a trophy and everyone can sing brilliantly.

its gotten to the point of not just music, anything can be copied.. changed and done with what you please. I could do this a year ago. AND its not your background, its the original video... ffs.. honestly you understand nothing about what is going on... people are taking youtube shorts... masking it, to change parts of it (face, clothing etc)... Its THE EXACT same thing that cgi artists do to do movies, its work... its not simple but many change very little, (like face) and that IMO is stealing content. I make videos and change the subject.. entirely. But i still COPY others videos.

In wondering what happens next. Singers start putting into their contracts that this cannot be done to their vocals?
@mystic_mimi218 сағат бұрын
I think the actors and director are misleading people or choosing to ignore the knowledge they have that the vocals would be edited. Ariana is a mainstream singing she knows this stuff. Maybe Ariva doesn’t. They can’t be naive though. Yes they did sing and actor live on the set, recorded it. But they also likely recorded in a studio for the soundtrack, ADR all standard stuff for films. Maybe they were misled and told that their raw vocals would remain like with Les Mis but are choosing to not saying anything as it would be bad pr, maybe they think that’s is their raw vocals. But this is Hollywood, these are professional, trained actors who aren’t naive and more than likely for pr are misleading audiences.

This is a great video. When I first saw the "Loathing, unadulterated loathing" clip online, I heard that pitch-correct stamp on it and wondered why no one was talking about it. I was like, am I losing my mind? This is obviously computerized. But as others have commented, if you haven't worked with pitch-correct technology, it's maybe not obvious when you're hearing it. Thanks for confirming that I am not insane.

It’s a gorgeous, far reaching, timeless piece. Written by keyboard player Michael Brown of the left banke. “Michael Brown (born Michael David Lookofsky, April 25, 1949 - March 19, 2015) was an American keyboardist and songwriter, most notable for his work with the Left Banke. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of violinist and arranger Harry Lookofsky.”

I missed the show tonight, so I'm coming in late But I do have a question: Have you gone back to any of your older analysis videos to see if the " faceless evil ones" have digitally altered them. While it would be heartbreaking, it would be interesting to compare a video that someone had archived vs. the same video that's on KZbin today.

I need a play the guitar cause i need one with a custom neck for my fingers, they are too fat. But on the one i made for myself, I learned by watching the old time country and blue grass artists. I'm faster than most but to even hope to keep up with Glen I have to play clawhammer. Still tho, I don't think anyone alive today can even hold a guitar pick to Glen in skill.

I’ve noticed that there have been numerous “remastered” stamped on cds? What then is the % that it was auto tuned or whatever? It seems even more likely when the band sells their rights or their bandmember/s pass away. I would feel cheated out on the performer’s cd and how much I paid for it. Like the folks rooting for that bicyclist who later admitted to taking performance drugs. If people want to do that then those engaging in such should be in their own league.

As a Mariah fan this is nothing new to me, Ive listened to all her performances and I can tell the similarities and differences in the prerecorded backing track amongst all of them- this doesn’t diminish her talent, it is still her voice after all she is singing along with.

Thank you Fil for highlighting Adele and her true artistic talent. She's a master of expressing the many ranges of human emotion and experience with her own personal touch. Great song choice to highlight this very fact. "Easy On Me" Has so many interpretations of the heart wrenching themes of divorce, starting over and forgiveness on so many deep levels that many people need to feel but maybe can't express it as eloquently as her. Adele's music does just that and goes straight to the heart, mind and soul. Her imperfections go directly to ours. Societies and our self imposed expectations are hopefully released by this song ❤❤❤❤True makings of an artist. And why the arts play such an integral role in society. Auto tuning is automation of all species,(full stop) period. It's obvious how animals and plants thrive on good music too 🎵🎶
