Given the lack of trustworthiness in many mattress reviews especially by the large conglomerates that "invest" in marketing, I found this review refreshingly unbiased. You seem quite honest and your review was as comprehensive as can be expected with little waste of anyone's time. Well done!!

Thank you very much for your kind words! Sadly, you're correct that the mattress reviews space is almost entirely spam. I'm very glad it was evident to you how we are different. If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend checking out our website, where you'll find more of the same quality of information, but with best-in-class search and comparison tools layered on top. I hope you find that even more helpful. In the meantime, thanks again!

Thanks for your kind words Joe. In helping you choose between those two options, all other considerations being equal, my instinct is that for someone who is 235 lbs, the Soft would be too soft. So I'd recommend going with the Luxury Firm in your case. I hope that's helpful.

Deciding on this or the aurora luxe by bb. I am a back and side sleeper constantly switching throughout the night. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
@goodbed
@goodbed Ай бұрын
So the biggest difference between these is going to be in the cover itself. The Aurora is a true hybrid with a stretch-knit cover over pocket springs (unless you get the cloud top), while the WinkBed is a more traditional pocket spring mattress with a soft quilted cover. Both of these have layers of specialty foam and coil units with a zoned center third. In our analysis we had slightly better pressure relief on the WinkBed, although these scores were very similar overall. Here's how these break down on our comparison tool: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=winkbeds-winkbed&mod=brooklyn-bedding-aurora-medium

Great presentation as usual. I noticed u made no mention of a wool layer being used as a fire retardent. Is a fire sock being used? Id venture to say almost no one knows fiberglass is being used as a fire retardent in the sock. Fiberglass is very harmful and exceedingly expensive to remove. I don't want any of it in my mattress that's why I'm going organic green.
@goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
We don't think these have a fiberglass fire barrier, no. Most quilted models on the market don't use the kind of stretch knit fiberglass firesock that you commonly see causing problems for people.

Sounds like this may the model for me but would you concur? I’m a back sleeper primarily- occasionally I’ll side sleep but suffer from hip pain/shoulder pain and usually can’t take the pressure laying on my sides. Weight fluctuates between 190-220lbs. Trying to find the right level of firmness is my biggest concern. I need the support for my back, hips, shoulders but I don’t want it to be so firm that it causes further pain/discomfort. Thank you for such an in depth video. Found it very helpful. Any feedback you can provide is greatly appreciated 🙏🏽✨

Hey Phuong - sorry we must have missed this comment. We generally don't recommend the firmest model of most brands unless people like a very firm overall feel. Thanks for this video but I'm a little confused by the materials you reviewed. You might want to double check the accuracy of your Materials & Construction overview. Maybe they've changed the bed in the last 7 months but I doubt it. When I spoke to a Winkbed customer service person today, they said the comfort layers are 1" Gel hypersoft foam (1.8lb, 17 ILD), 1" gel foam (1.8lb, 17 ILD), then a Lumbar Layer which is also 1.8lb density. This is vastly different than your materials, there's no 2" layer 4lb density foam in this bed currently according to the company. Also no mention of an Aircell Foam layer in the specs, that's in the GravityLux model. (It's possible the customer service person is wrong but I did ask two different people just to rule out that possibility).
@goodbed
@goodbed 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacob -- Thanks for your comment. We just reached out to the folks at WinkBed that actually designed this mattress and confirmed that the info shown here is still 100% correct. As you suspected, nothing has changed in the materials or construction of this mattress since this review. Here is a picture of the layers: d.pr/i/uM5K5s To address your question about the GravityLux, that model is an all-foam mattress (ie, it has no springs), so there's zero chance that the layers shown in the diagram above are for the GravityLux. FWIW, it's not surprising that the AirCell foam would be used in both the flagship WinkBed and the GravityLux. Manufacturers often use their favorite materials across multiple models and product lines. It should also give you some comfort that the details we presented line up exactly with what we found (and showed in the video) when we opened the mattress. By contrast, the specs you received seem to be missing a layer. The first 2" of foam in this mattress are very obviously part of the quilt. The specs you were given provide for only one other 2" layer (the "lumbar layer"), whereas you can see at 16:27 in the video that this mattress clearly has another 1" layer of foam below the 2" layer. I'm not sure how to explain the confusion in your exchange with the customer service team, but in any case I do think you can be confident that this information is correct. I hope that's helpful.
@5DollarHoller
@5DollarHoller 2 жыл бұрын
@@goodbed Thank you for following up with the Winkbed team! As I said, I asked two different Customer Service reps on two different days to confirm the layer details. My guess is that they copy/paste their response from some FAQ resource kit they have access to, and that book is not complete/accurate. I'm glad to hear the materials are of the higher quality that you mentioned. I did get a Winkbed LuxuryFirm myself since posting this comment. The depth above the springs measure about 4.5" roughly from the outside, so you are right that they do seem to be missing a layer in what they provide to customers. It's a shame too because they're selling themselves short if that's the case. I do find the bed to be very cool sleeping, although we're almost a week in and it's incredibly firm to the point I'm waking up multiple times in the middle of the night, very sore neck despite testing multiple kinds of pillows. I really thought it would be a softer bed, feels almost like an 8/10.

Hi Michael -- Thanks for your question, and sorry we missed this earlier. That's a bit of a trick question, because I'd actually recommend the Plus in your case. You can check out our coverage of that model, which I think will explain why I think it's a better match for your situation, by going here: www.goodbed.com/reviews/winkbed-plus-mattress-review/ That said, I do realize the Plus is a bit more expensive than the standard WinkBeds, so if you're focused on just the Medium or Soft, I'd definitely go with the Medium in your case. @goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Hi Joe -- Thanks for your question. The short answer is no. The longer answer is that we prioritize our editorial content based on input from our readers and (perhaps surprisingly) we've received very little interest in Sleep Number's products over the years. I'm not 100% sure why this is, but my supposition has always been that Sleep Number customers don't ever really enter the mattress shopping journey that most mattress shoppers follow, wherein multiple brands get considered, compared, and researched. Rather, my presumption is that most Sleep Number purchasers get siphoned off while they wandering around the mall, or watching TV late at night, and get convinced to buy a Sleep Number product before they ever really look into other options. In any case, your interest in Sleep Number will certainly be noted. Thanks again for your comment.

@@NeelSea Thanks for your comment. We actually spent a great deal of time in that review discussing the fact that the WinkBed Plus is suitable for a wide range of sleepers, well beyond just the group of people who are 300lbs and up: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYCapJdpqLV-gZI While you are correct that lighter side sleepers like Amanda did not necessarily have the best fit on that mattress, some compromise will be required in order to find a mattress that works for both her and her husband. In light of that point, IMHO the WinkBed Plus is certainly an option worthy of consideration for her situation. I hope that's helpful.

I think it would have been helpful to state Wink’s “Lifetime Warranty” is 50% of purchase price the day after the trial period. We all know there is a HUGH mark up in mattresses of at least 50%. So they basically have zero risk at offering a 50% Lifetime Warranty. Not to say it may not be a good mattress but a warranty of 50% after the trial period is VERY significant to a mattress buyer and should be mentioned.
@goodbed
@goodbed 11 ай бұрын
That's what you were told? This is the first time I'm hearing this. If this had been the case when we did our review, we most certainly would have explained that. The good news for you is that I think the customer service person must have just been confused. Their own website makes no mention of this policy. Here is the entire text for what the remedy is when a defect occurs: d.pr/i/h9mHKb *WARRANTY REMEDY* In the event of a Defect (as defined above), WinkBeds’ sole liability and your sole remedies under this Warranty will be: A replacement of your defective mattress with a brand new WinkBeds mattress in the same model and size at absolutel charge to you. Here's a link to the full warranty as well, which contains no mention of any prorating: www.goodbed.com/o/z/1140/winkbeds-trial-and-warranty/ So unless you have some extenuating circumstances in your case, if there is a valid warranty defect with your mattress (which is also clearly defined in the full warranty linked above), I don't see any reason why you shouldn't receive a brand new replacement. I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. We get this one a lot but respectfully, we don't answer it. The reason is that because mattresses are so personal, this information is at best irrelevant to most people. And at worst, it is a red herring that would ultimately lead many people to choose that mattress over ones that would be a much better match for their personal needs. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.
@Pete_or_Peter4Long
@Pete_or_Peter4Long Жыл бұрын
@@goodbed Asking someone what bed they sleep in who has access to trying all these different beds by no means is irrelevant. Every bed manufacturer these days has a trial period so there’s no way the answer could lead to anyone making a wrong decision. There’s so much snake oil in this industry that most people are looking for a general direction in terms of a brand and quality control and build construction. I understand you’re trying to be unbiased for review purposes but this would be equivalent to asking a head chef what his favorite dish is. I may not like the dish but it wouldn’t be his fault if I made the decision to order it. And just like beds I could just get another dish. 😊
@goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
@@Pete_or_Peter4Long Thanks for your reply. I totally understand your POV, of course. The key difference is that everyone knows that food is subject to personal taste. However, most consumers do not understand that mattresses are highly personal. This is the reason that so many people start their research by searching for something along the lines of "best mattress ____". If they understood that mattresses are personal, they would know that this query makes no more sense than searching for the "best pants of 2023" -- or the "best food dish" for that matter. But they don't, and so in this case I feel an obligation to protect them from this lack of understanding, rather than prey upon it the way every other mattress review website does with their completely bogus "best mattress for x" lists that have no other purpose but to trick you into buying whichever mattress makes them the most money. My apologies again, but I hope you can respect this rationale.

@@goodbed I recently went to a mattress store and my favorite bed was the S&F Reserve Firm. I then called S&F to ask the weight of a king and height of the coil to which they couldn’t answer either. I then rewatched your review and sure enough you mentioned the coil height and I’m sure you could find the weight also even though the company who makes them doesn’t know. I then did the next logical step and searched Reddit for S&F only to see a lot of bad experiences with the brand pertaining to depressions less then a year in. One guy actually had to sue because they wouldn’t warranty his bed. Needless to say it’s crazy out here and the reason I’m asking what bed you use or for that matter your experience with beds you’ve owned is to get a general idea of what’s important in bed construction and quality for long term consistency. You read things like less is more, meaning less layers and higher spring to comfort layer ratio so not as much chance for a depression. You also read latex is superior to memory foam as it holds up better. If you won’t say what is important in your personal bed criteria can you give an opinion in general about construction and materials that bode well for consistent longevity? From what I gather edge to edge coils topped in latex like the Sealys Natural collection or Winkbed Ecocloud seems to be the best chance if it suits you to remain the same as the day you bought years down the line.
