Thanks again James for taking the time to illustrate so much of what has been on my mind since our 99 Adventurer purchase. Our '99' has the TV mounted over the passenger side (not very attractive) and was already replaced by the previous owner several years ago. I am flirting with the idea of mounting a 34" monitor across from the jack knife sofa flush above the entry door. Vertically it works but the opening is an inch too short between the cabinetry. What your videos show me is that nothing is impossible. Just need more time! Lol. Thanks, and may see you in the future for a roof replacement.

Like the plywood idea. Just mount it to that. Great idea.

I normally used a cabinet grade veneer plywood and stain to match.

Reminds me of when my company switched the conference room TV to to it’s first flat screen. The I.T. guys had to channel their inner carpenter skills too. Nice work, always informative stuff. 👍

Replacing a TV is a more complicated matter than most people think. Modern TVs are too wide to fit square openings and will likely block adjacent cabinet doors without modifying mounts and cabinets, HDMI cables are difficult to run the length of a motorhome....but most importantly need to be engineered not to fall off and crush a driver's head in transit which would cause a great deal of loss. Thanks!

Fleetwoods should be much easier to remove....just be ready they are very heavy!

I did the same but put hinges and struts on the face frame so the new TV and backing flip up for extra storage.

Interesting. Have always wondered how they did that. Fortunately the previous owner of my Vectra has already replaced both TVs with newer flat screen units. Thanks for showing us!
@AZExpert5 жыл бұрын
Vectra TVs were much more difficult to mount and with an angled wooden frame more difficult to mount a flat TV on. I can't tell you how many times I had to remove those TVs for other repairs and installations.

AZ Expert mine being the 40AD, the main TV is not up front above the windshield but rather in the living room in an entertainment center in the camp side slide. The rear tv is on some goofy pivot deal that hinges to angle the tv toward the bed when camped. Fortunately I’m not one that spends much time, of any, watching tv. I prefer to be outside.

@@elcaminomant I like that floorplan. Much easier to modify that cabinet and make a storage compartment behind the tv too if you want

Wow all the weight you loose upgrading to a smart tv.

I swapped out the TV and VCR for a Blu-ray and smart TV. Pretty easy to do. The new TV was already a 12 volt, so I wired it directly without the included transformer.

Great idea! I'm notice now people are buying the projector TV. Nice night they would show it on the side of motor home or hangs a sheet. Been thinking about doing that! I would have a pull down screen that would be placed directly over the front inside! Not sure if that would work. Just need to try it.

Projectors really need dark spaces. I always thought it would be cool to put a screee hanging from the awning

Thanks James. Your video encouraged me to remove the TV in my 2000 Adventurer. I was amazed how well it was secured. I got a 40 inch TV and a really nice mount so that I can swivel it out of the way to access the storage cabinets and also tilt it down at the proper angle for viewing. I removed the steel structure and plastic tub and welded a structure to go between the cabinets so the whole thing is straight across and only the TV hangs down. I would like to get some vinyl to match what is under the cabinets so the whole thing looks clean. Is there any place that I can order matching vinyl?
@AZExpert3 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly, Amazon sells vinyl fabric cheap. Otherwise, I always go to an uplostery shop first to find something close. They do install those TVs well, I am so glad they aren't installed anymore.

How do I go about removing the tube TV over the gas fireplace in an 06 Keystone Laredo?

I am fighting an old LCD tv swap in our 2000 newmar and it has been a challenge reverse engineering what the previous installer did.

Couldn't see what was going on when you were wearing the camera and then you set it across the room. Follow by a long time looking at the tv that no one cares about. Might be enough info to try to remove mine.

My 99 dodge van has a built in tv and I want to take it out. I can’t find a video for it.

It can be difficult to figure out, but remember someone had to put it in so it is removeable. Good Luck.
