In today's video I am going to show you how to upgrade and install aftermarket vent fans in your existing RV fan vent cutouts.
We own a Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX 2108DS tow behind travel trailer. The camper was equipped with your standard Ventline square vents which included the cheap factory installed fans.
The factory installed vans are small, inefficient as well as ineffective at moving any significant amount of air.
I am a big fan of the Maxxair style fans and in fact have installed before in our previous camper, a Runaway Campers Range Runner squaredrop camper.
Of course, it's always a good idea to avoid cutting into your roofline if at all possible and these vent fan aftermarket inserts make the job easy as cake.
Generally, for less than $100 bucks you can upgrade your existing fan mechanism to a seriously more powerful as well as more efficient fan system in a matter of about 15 minutes.
Today, I am going to walk you through, step by step, the process of how I installed an aftermarket vent fan in our existing roof cut outs.
In doing this, now that both fan cut outs will contain an aftermarket high powered 12v vent fan, we can cut down on our overall use of our air conditioning while keeping the camper cool and comfortable should the outside weather get warmer than would be comfortable.
Living in an off grid way, the more we can save on power the better and while our 2108DS is capable of running the Air Conditioning even while on battery power, it will consume and use up most of the battery power in a short period of time.
With these two, extremely efficient 12v aftermarket vent fans, I am sure it will help us to stay cool while at the same time saving us much coveted battery power and energy.
I hope this video proves helpful as you attempt to tackle this project on your own.
You will simply need wire cutters, wire crimpers a drill, a phillips head screw bit or driver, a square bit or driver, small drill bit for the rivets and a few wire connectors ( I prefer butt splices ).
