I've never donated money towards any content creators this will be my first time and it's because you guys are so so great with this series and bring back amazing memories of me and Dad and a few friends that came over every Saturday. I lost lost slot of good card to them but I got the last laugh because I have them all now hahahah. Seriously tho I plan to hold and take care of everyone's cards now. I wonder how many YGOTAS watchers realize that the Anime called out, every single time, the effect of ALL Magic and Trap cards (as well as Monster Effects when they were activated). It's just that Pot of Greed was such an ubiquitous card, used by so many different duelists in so many duels throughout the entirety of the Anime, that this habit was much more noticeable when it came to the Pot than it was for almost any other card.

It wouldn't have made a difference in the end, but (for future reference) Morphing Jar #2 doesn't shuffle itself back into the deck, and therefore doesn't count towards the number of monsters you have to excavate for, if it's flipped and destroyed by battle. It's also cool to see the incorporation of the new cards you pull into you're decks as well as adding the cards you win. I really love this series. I have a few ideas for helping the games (maybe.) 1.) Best of 3. A basic rule but i know i would love to see more of these games play out. 2.) Loser of last round gets to pull first. May not actually change much but may give a little advantage since iirc the old booster boxes were stacked more favorably for the bottom boosters and to the left side. 3.) Allow trading between the 2 duelists? May open up options for both sides to get a better deck. Optionally have another team member be a "Card Merchant" who you could trade some extras in for others from the set(s).
@IsikPalion Жыл бұрын

I think the reprint sets are a great idea, as much as people hate to be on the receiving end of DM staples, they are always fun to see. As for started decks, I think some kind of downside plus a way to trade them out when they lose relevancy would be good. Maybe if you want a different starter after the first one, you have to give the old one in it's entirety to your opponent? Possibly only have one copy of each starter and have a priority picking of them based on how many you have grabbed before or something? Would certainly add some interesting meta game strategy if that is what you want. But 100% want to see them, as there are so many cool cards that are structure deck only, and it would be a shame to never see any of the strategies they enable.

Really enjoying this series and feeling for Paul! Alex got some really good multiple copies of top tier cards for early Yugioh, it’s hard to fight back against multiple trap holes and flip effects. Maybe add Light of Intervention if you pulled it previously? Depending on how far you guys go with this series would be interesting to see how you use newer packs that are mainly archetypes. Old Yugioh suits this format as you can swap around and use anything but new packs probably have a lot more redundant cards unless you have a full set! Anyway great job guys!

Been enjoying this series quite a bit, I feel there will eventually be a point where Paul’s disadvantage will be overwhelming, maybe a mercy rule with the reprint sets to help balance out all the power houses shifting away from him. That being said…this was hype as heck, way more intense then I’d expect from these early sets, really nice back/forth
@liam-3982 жыл бұрын
The problem is in both Paul's deckbuilding and strategy. Alec got lucky and pulled two trapholes and two maneater bugs. Paul initially had the 2k defense monsters as an advantage, but he started using those to attack and/or tribute them and now he has taken them out of his deck completely. Alec had often been drawing 'regular' monsters up until now which meant that he would have always needed those maneaterbugs OR his big guys to take care of those cards. Instead it seems this time Paul even removed his heavy storm, whilst Alec added a call of the haunted. A long story short: Paul is making some bad calls maybe due to overlooking the simplicity of this early format and overvaluing early 'effect monsters'. Whereas Alec is just running a pretty consistent removal format and has been lucky to find stuff to add to it.

"If the monster is flipped up and destroyed by battle, the card is destroyed first, then its effect is activated and resolved on the field in the Damage Step after damage calculation."

In this case, it wouldn't have changed the situation since there was only 1 card in the deck anyways, but the situation could have been avoided if he kept Morphing Jar 2 in ATK position, however he would lose most of his remaining life points.

The magazine was super cool to see. I never expected to see one of these games end in a deck out :O Btw Paul you weren't using Morphing Jar #2 incorrectly. If it would be destroyed by the attack that flips it, which it would of been in this game, it goes the graveyard instead of returning to the deck.

I love these videos it reminds me of dueling growing up. This loss should be a reminder that 40 card decks were not the normal back then a lot of the time I ran the max 60 cards after I lost this way.

Excellent series, congrats! Sends me back to the very beginning. An addition might be that they don't get to know their pulls until the game, perhaps just the ante.

In the end Paul could have flipped the Morphing Jar #2, hoping that Alec doesn't have any 4 level monsters left in the deck and if Alec excavates the ones that he shuffles back in the end, he would deck out first. Not very likely, but his only out.

I'm loving this series so far and would like to offer a few suggestions - since you asked. 1st, no using the decks as they contain too many powerful generic cards (Change of Heart, Monster Reborn, Soul Exchange, Dark Hole, etc) and one of the fun things about this series is seeing you guys work with what you get. When you enter the GX era (Dragon's Roar, Zombie Madness) then I think there is something to be said about using decks as they are mostly for archetype synergy. 2nd, the card you put up must be in your deck. I really like the strategy this creates as you could block your opponent from winning a useful rare card, but you're also crippling your deck by putting bricks in it. Though this one, I'm sort of torn on this. 3rd, Yes, absolutely use every booster pack including the likes of Dark Beginnings etc. The appeal of this series (outside of your wonderful selves) is deck building through boosters. And now for one, I'm mixed on as it's odd, but I think it could be interesting. 4th, if someone loses two times in a row, then they are given an extra booster pack from the winner's side. Once, again, I think this adds another element of strategy. Now, obviously, you can't just throw the game, but think about it. Perhaps Alec got an amazing pull from Invasion of Chaos (Emperor Dragon, perhaps). Paul is currently down two losses and if Alec wins again, then he has to give up one of his packs. So, now the choice is does he concede the game and give up the rare card for the extra pack, or does he win the game and give up the extra pack. You could even have it so Alec could show how they'd win the duel, but they forfeit it instead in order to keep the pack. It's odd, I grant you, but it's more of a means to counter snowballing and give some balance. As I said, odd, but something to consider. Keep up the awesome work, guys.

can we just admire how good this game is and they are playing with older cards

I really love this series!! I do think it would be a good idea that if any one person lose several duels in row that they should be given the option of selecting a started decks that came out closest to which ever box set that you’re currently on so that starter decks would have some correlation to the box set so that no duelist has more of advantage over the other

I love this series! I started playing Yugioh around the time MRD came out, so these are the sets I remember. Labyrinth of Nightmare is a weird set but I'm really looking forward to Legacy of Darkness and all its type support. That might be when we start seeing some fancier strategies than beatdown. For feedback, one thing sticking out at me is that neither player has Polymerization. I know that most fusion monsters were garbage in these sets, and Thousand-Eyes Restrict takes a lot of other rare cards to work, but even something like Skull Knight, Labyrinth Tank, or St. Joan coming up would be game-changers. Adding starter decks to the card pool would add in those Polymerizations from SDJ, but Dark Hole and Monster Reborn would be sort of game-warping. It's fun to see The Shallow Grave and Spear Cretin take the role of revival! So I'd suggest giving each player a handful of cards that are useful but not format-defining, if you can decide what belongs there. Polymerization is honestly the only one I can think of, where you're missing out on a whole game mechanic by not having it. It also seems weird to me that you can only win the rarest cards pulled that episode. I was surprised that Paul never even has a chance of winning his Blue-eyes back! Whatever you decide, looking forward to watching the next episode! Thanks for making this series!

Paul pulling Jinzo was a sign from above....but not the one he thought it was! Lol That was cold of Jinzo to show up just to tease him like that, but he is the Android PSYCHO SHOCKER after all. Mans has a rep to maintain.

Paul, just wanted to say thank you for pulling out that magazine. Those were so helpful back in the day and it was the first one I ever got. Such a nostalgia rush. Absolutely love this series. Thank you so much for doing what you do
