Seeing Shcherbakova so shocked when she found out she won 1st overall was kind of funny. But it also shows she was not aware of the scoring situation. Which is pretty common, the top skaters usually block everything else out and only focus on trying to deliver the skate they want. In my opinion, that's the right strategy. You worry about only what you can control, not what other skaters are scoring.

Was it her best skate, no, did she deserve to win, YES. But Annas performance today shows just how special her skate at the Russian Nationals was. While this was a beautiful performance, it lacked the deep emotion and exuberance we saw in Russia. Nevertheless the best Skater won, Congrats to Tuktik and Sasha, the 3 Russian ladies were formidable, even when not at their best.

I love how she tries to grow more as a complete skater and not just go after the big jumps. Many routines these days are not fun to watch because you can see the skater just go through the motions until the jumps and spins come in their routine. Artistry is neglected quite a lot these days, and it’s really sad. There aren’t many that can connect and emote with the music these days, but she’s one of them. She’s also such a humble and sweet girl. Congrats to her 👍

Beautiful Anna!!! So happy for this girl! This season was pretty much heroic on her end, to overcome pneumonia that was lingering what seemed like forever, winning Russian nationals right after her illness, which was even harder than this... She burned out towards the end of the season which is understandable, but she still fought to the end and got her well-deserved World title. After the short program, I pretty much called her Medvedeva with quads... she wasn't quite that today, but she still got it done. It was a tough day for most of the skaters, they all seemed to have scored less than they normally do. And then Trusova coming back from 12th to make the podium was one of craziest things I've seen. After Tuktamysheva took the lead I was sure Trusova was going to get 4th, which was already a good comeback but I was shocked to see she actually made the podium.(in a good way) It was a fitting end to a pretty crazy season. Edit: Actually I misspoke. I never said Shcherbakova was Medvedeva with quads, what I actually said was Shcherbakova was about "as good" as Medvedeva in her prime, but with quads. That's a bit different, because obviously Shcherbakova is her own unique skater with her own style.

She is a much better artist than Medvedeva, actually expressing music through her body without pantomime. And her lutz is only flat which is nowhere near as bad as full inside.

I agree, today Anna was inconsistent, unlike during the short program. I mean you could watch here on yt her performance in Nationals few months ago, and this free program of her was a pure magic! Spectacular and touching! Today - not so much. I guess she was too nervous. You can see her shaking from time to time. Funny you mention Medvedeva, because I too see these two have a lot in common! Their artistic impression especially. And I worry she may end up just as Zhenya overtaken by her younger teammate during the Olympic finals.

I agree with you. with my friend we brought up the same point, and even compared it to Zagitova winning her gold in 2919- those last chances at grabbing the medal as there are others with more difficult technical content turning senior. I'm extremely happy for Anna to capture this medal, as for so many years she was that middle child, everyone was either focused on Sasha because of her quads, or on Kostornaia because of her skating skills and incredible performance abilities. Anna was always overlooked by the majority of fans, and I couldn't be happier to see her winning 3 national titles in a row, and now world championship.

Big gratz to Anna for claiming her world championship title., the Empress for a fruitful season full of fight and such a worthy and precious worlds silver that shows that age is not a limit for some in sport and Sasha for bringing herself to the podium from place 12th and stealing the show of the day. The only other time I remember something like that was Deniz Ten's bronze in the Olympics after being 10th in short. R.I.P. Deniz Ten...anyway, I am afraid figure skating will become more popular than football very soon, the pressure is only going to boil! Very sorry for Rika today, she almost had it in her bag. If I want to see a show jumping, then the best thing is to a cirus. But if I want to watch sport, there has to be discipline, rules, and an affinity with art. She is an accomplished thing about Sasha, but if Rika didn't make mistakes Saha would have been left off the podium.
