I have a few of them. must have. I mounted the west mountain radio one on one of my portable battery box. I even got one with the bigger PP75 input power poles. better for heaver loads . 73;s

I have a PP75 to install here... that's gonna be a cable haul!

I just purchased an MFJ-1124. I did some testing and found that, although the 6 ft. cable is a hefty gauge (#8 awg), it's resistance is about the same as #12 awg Copper. I suspect that it is Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) instead of real Copper. If you run it at the full advertised rating, 40A, it would lose over 3/4 volt and dissipate about 30 watts of heat. I immediately replaced their cable with real #8 copper and the voltage drop fell to less than 1/3 volt and 12 watts of heat. Inside, the voltage drops are negligible and are mainly due to the unavoidable fuse resistances. Some reviews have mentioned poor soldering, but mine appears OK.

Thanks for the info!

You really have to watch out for that CCA crap from China. You'll end up with a fire or other damage :( Sad we can't just make things in AMERICA .

Another quick and informative video. The link to the MFJ-1124 shows a distribution box but without the beefy input leads. Is that a 'changed' version of the one in the video?
@temporarilyoffline2 жыл бұрын
It looks like they copied the low res pictures off of MFJ's website to Amazon. There doesn't seem to be any other provision for power input, so I'd say it was just a "display model".

Cool vid, is it time for the shortwave radio 11 yr cycle to start booming yet?

We are on the upswing of that cycle now. It "feels" like its getting better, although that could just be spring /shrug
