Did you know - this type of stove is also called a "Sad Iron Stove". A "Sad Iron" was actually the name of an early type of clothes-pressing iron, and "Sad" in this case is an Old English word that meant "solid". So, one use of these early stoves was to heat up a clothing iron to press clothes!

This is what I found: "Sad" comes from Old English "sæd" meaning "sated, full, heavy," and evolved to mean "heavy of heart, sorrowful" in Middle English.

Thank you for posting an interesting and informative video! The comparison with the Summer Girl fascinated me. When I was a child even, such a heater was no longer used for irons.
It's probably both since iron can mean the metallic element as well as device that's heated to remove wrinkles from clothing. Google translate renders both words as iron. As another commenter mentioned these were sometimes called sadiron stoves, taking the second definition. However that now would be considered archaic.

Came here for aproduct review but was presented with the MOST PLESANT and well filmed 20 minuts I've watched in alng time . EXCELENT review . Q; what would you " guestamite " the BTU rangeof heat output ? and unit COST ? Thanks Ontario Canada .
I think with measurements of the cotton wick, one would not have any difficulty locating a replacement at a very reasonable price. Additionally, I'd use lamp oil as fuel, not k2 or even k1, kerosene.

…very nice espresso machine you have ….i really like this lantern/heater/stove-top…whatever it is….gonna check it out…i have a stove top espresso/cappuccino (steamer arm) maker that would go well with that…..
Thank you for your detail and actual how to use it !!! This morning I ordered this iron stove and expecting its using pleasure !!! Your U-tube content shows good mood and music ^^ Hope you enjoy it for long time !!!
beautfiul equipment. thanks for the subtitles. i mostly do backpack camping so the weight of the stove is a bit too much. But i'm just loving the artmophere that it gives out. i have to really think about if i can try car camping instead. haha
$400.00 USD is absolutely ridiculous for this stove. There is no way you can justify charging that much. Anyone that pays that for this stove should question their decision making capabilities and ability to reason with logic.
