White Sox fan since 1968 when I was seven years old, and this was the first time they won anything in my lifetime. It took 15 years and that seemed like such a long time at the time, but doesn't seem so long now that it's been 18 years since they won the World Series. The forgotten guy on this team is Richard Dotson. Plus the American League finally winning the All-Star game, and doing it in Comiskey Park was a bonus. A lot of guys had career-best years and couldn't repeat it, so the victory was pretty fleeting.

1990 was a hell of a team too! That team reminded me of the ‘83 team. After all, 94-68 is a hell of a record to wind up staying at home while teams with lesser records (Boston/Pittsburgh) compete in the postseason…. If only they had the Wild Card back then…so many great, playoff worthy teams went by the wayside in those days. A postseason berth would’ve been a helluva way to say goodbye to Old Comiskey Park. That team had potential and might’ve surprised people in the postseason!

This may have been a one hit wonder but those guys just demolished an AL West that had 2 very good teams in the Royals and Angels. The bad news for them was that the Winning Ugly struck midnight against the unhitable arms of the Orioles. When you have to face McGregor, Boddicker, Flanagan, Palmer, Storm Davis, El Presidente, and Tippy Martinez wheter starting or coming out of the bullpen. You're gonna have a long day. Just ask the Phillies in the World Series. FYI, agony thy name is Tito Landrum.

Kind of ticked off at LaRussa over the playoffs. Hoyt was the game one winner. Bannister had rough outing in game 3. LaRussa should’ve gone game three with Hoyt game four with Burns , and game 5 with Dotson. Regardless of that, the White Sox to not hit the baseball. Which was their talent during the season. I’ll give Baltimore that...
@markminter63124 жыл бұрын
Actually it was Richard Dotson that got shelled in Game 3. Burns pitched great in Game 4(nine shutout innings) until he gave up a homer in the 10th, but before that Jerry Dybzinski screwed up on the basepaths and cost Chicago a run that probably would have won them the game. If they had won that one, you'd have had a fully rested LaMarr Hoyt for game 5 at home and I honestly believe he would have won the pennant for them(Hoyt was literally unbeatable the 2nd half of the season and playoffs). But like you said, none of that mattered since the White Sox couldn't hit for shit the entire series. They're lucky they even won one game.
