Love this build. My question is on the foot steer. What’s the purpose for the cables out the front?

My OCD is making me twitch watching this video and how dirty the yak is. 😂. You made it work and that is all that matters. I am still twitching…..

Dude my kayak is always filthy given the places I go! haha. It's just something you have to get used to I guess.

@@RiverBasserDrew it’s ok I will let you slide because you won this time. You could have cleaned it before the walk through for me at least. But it’s ok I still love ya

Congrats on your win bro. I was gonna go to our local dealer Saturday and get a shoalie (2.5 hr drive) I do the river some and usually head upriver/current. I have a OT sportsman and it wears me out heading upriver. Would u still recommend the shoalie

Drew congrats. Did you attach your load stone with the self adhesive backing they sell or something else?
@RiverBasserDrew5 ай бұрын
Yes I just used the adhesive that comes in the back of it that you peel off and just stick it! So far holding up well. 🙌🏻

Congrats drew sweet ride. You don’t us a graph for tournaments do you
@RiverBasserDrew5 ай бұрын
Correct, I don’t use a graph for any kayak fishing (tournament or not). I prefer to stick with why I like the kayak to begin with - its simplicity.

Where do you buy the load stone?
@RiverBasserDrew5 ай бұрын
bigdripoutdoors.com/ Love that thing! They make at least two sizes and this was the bigger size but the smaller may be better for certain areas on kayaks.

No disrespect, but having to have that much stuff with you, just for that torquedoo would drive me mad. Also those batteries are a money pit.
@robswoodsandcustomsawmilli99405 ай бұрын
I am sure Torqeedo 1103 is a great motor. That batt sorry that needs to be an option only. I would definitely buy one if I could use the battery of my choice. If you don't know what's in there it's just 18650 Cells epoxied in a waterproof box with part of the esc . 18650 same thing that's in a Milwaukee 18v batt. Convince them to put the entire esc in the motor or the controller. Agree or disagree they would sell way more motors. Sorry for the rant and you can delete this no big deal. Just sickens me to see like 4k in batt

Yeah again this is a pros vs cons sort of thing. Other batteries don't have data port like this and can't show all (they can still show some) of the data the Torqeedo can (as far as I know) and that info is imperative. I was also told they are a better type of battery and its why they are fairly light, a little more expensive than other lithiums, and why they take so long to charge. Again, not sure if all that is true but a source in the know told me this so I don't think it is the same as a generic drill battery but again I've personally never taken one apart so IDK! I had to borrow some to make this work because yeah it can get expensive if you had to own 4 or 5 of those. I hear the new battery is a little bigger and lasts longer so that should be helpful! Good comment

@@RiverBasserDrew Yeah lol I do know what’s in there. But I am also an Ibew union electrician. I can build most of this stuff myself and I understand it very well. I also raced RC cars for quite a while that taught me a ton about lithium batteries. Everything they have done I can do with regards to that battery. So I just wish they had the option of using your own battery.
@RiverBasserDrew5 ай бұрын
@@robswoodsandcustomsawmilli9940 The option would be nice. I also just wonder if it has to do with the motor as well? Like ensuring that you have the right battery for it since not all batteries are created equal and if someone gets the wrong kind or one that isn’t equal then the motor doesn’t work or work as well and that could reflect on them so they want to ensure it’s entire system is proper. IDK 🤷♂️

Love my Shoalie...but... boy does it need a trimmable seat.
@RiverBasserDrew5 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's a pro/con sort of thing. Those seats and the components to make them trimmable certainly would make the price go up closer to $2000 and the reality is where the seat is is pretty darn perfect for 90% of what we use it for and if you need to do what I did, it can certainly be DIY done with just some cam straps and much less cost than the cost of making it trimmable from the manufacturer...but definitely a good point and comment. 👍

@@RiverBasserDrew Congrats on the win....thanks for the thoughtful reply...it is such a great handling kayak...definitely not worth that much added cost...I can just toss a few rocks in the front hatch when I want to use the high position.
