Coming from an arcade background, it's really important to scope out the machines first, do some basic simulations in your head about how it can turn out when playing, and decide then if you want to play. When I went to Japan, I came back with an absolute haul of figures, bags, pillow cases, and t-shirts from crane games for under 5000 yen. I completely avoided any games that looked similar to the ones at the end of your video, knowing that wedging is a thing that totally happens and is the intended design to claim your money. If you start playing games without trying to properly scope and simulate, you'll have a wallet-emptying time, no matter what country you're in, though. The same applies to US crane games of all kinds: they are designed to make money, not let you win. If you win every time, it means WHAT you're winning was paid for in spades by the cost of your single play (see: rubber duck cranes, where each rubber duck costs the business ~$0.02 per duck, if not less, and you're paying $0.50+ per play).

Hmmmm... those machines do look like they're a lot of fun, and therein lies the problem! They are a form of gambling, essentially and more often than not, the player spends far, far more trying to win something than the actual prize/product is worth. Such machines, filled with soft toys (which are all I've seen here in the UK) are bad enough, where most players give up eventually if they don't win, such machines filled with snacks and drinks are temptations not so easily resisted!
