The claw is controlled algorithmically. The owner can set it to grip harder depending on how much money is in the machine, semi-randomly, etc. Source: was an arcade technician.

These machines have a hidden menu, where the owner can set how much a player pays for one try, how much a prize costs, and how much profit the machine should make. The claw machine will then use tricks like grab without strength, or drop the prize a little too early so it doesn't fall into the chute, to make sure it earns enough profit before giving a prize away.

5:03 my dad taught me that after you get a carbonated drink in a vending machine, you can tap two fingers, flat, firmly against the top of the can several times before opening, this knocks down the newly built up CO2 so it won't burst when you open it. It seems to work every time for me.

This video made me really respect and appreciate the employees of this arcade for having to stack up those huge towers any time someone wins and knocks them all down! Some of them were great designs and stacked so tall. It would have to require a steady hand to stack the tallest and most intricate designs in the different games. His face is never shown and his voice doesn't sound either compared to his wife which does show her face and does that mhm happy wiggle when tasting stuff. The guy also does taste testing of food on other videos of theirs like bullet train bentos. And the woman is shown here 8:29 holding a box while the guy eats from the other one. Besides, do rough hands like that belong to a womans? They might, but they'd have to be slim and on the older side for those folds and sharp shapes. Either way, its the guy. Not the girl. :)
