It saddens me to think that the people of today are hellbent on erasing the history like this. They fought and died for our so called freedoms, which are being eroded day by day. We must never forget their sacrifice.

I'm sorry, but they were not fighting for freedom. They were compelled to fight in a willy-waving war between empires. Belgium was nothing more than a red line drawn by Britain (World Empire Heavyweight Champion) in order to box in the German young pretender. Yes, it's more complicated than that, but Britain was never the defender of small nations nor their freedom. In fact, the very opposite. You don't build an empire by respecting the freedom of others. It's a great big lie that has entered modern parlance thanks to Americans trying to justify invading countries to effect regime change in their own interests.
