Winning Wednesday: Pleural Effusion (FREE NCLEX Review) with Professor Regina MSN, RN.
Pleural effusion, sometimes referred to as “water on the lungs,” is the build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs. The pleura are thin membranes that line the lungs and the inside of the chest cavity and act to lubricate and facilitate breathing. Normally, a small amount of fluid is present in the pleura.
In this lesson, we will understand the types and causes of Pleural Effusion. We will also know what are the symptoms and how it is being diagnosed. We will also explore how Pleural Effusion will be treated and how it will complicate. Lastly, we will know how a nurse can intervene to clients who has Pleural Effusion.
