Idk if you play chess, but there are a lot of important principles that pokemon and chess have in common. Having said that, I wouldn't find it odd if a lot of chess players were to watch or play competitive pokemon every now and then. Brian, you are excellent.

@@freddiesimmons1394 The most important and most common is being able to think multiple steps ahead, with proper predictions. I would think the average thinking ahead in your mind alone is something like 2-3 steps, but could go even further like 4+ which I would consider high level. But without doing it in your head, with writing things down, you could go much further :) EDIT: This is to break patterns, and or trap your opponent!

I'm currently using a miscellaneous team in gen9 with the three gen1 birds articuno, zapdos and moltres, with specs zapdos and bulky boots moltres then articuno acting as a roosting physical wall, however it heavily relies on glowking's chilly reception (who is my special wall so it is a logical switch when they bring a physical attacker to deal with it, then with future sight and articuno's blizzard/hurricane it can decently deal with physical sweepers or chip whatever comes to check, in snow its defense can go quite high and has natural high spdef for the case as well, it actually destroys the highly common great tusk whatever move you choose, and decently threats even clodsire with stab ice, of course... 70% of times). It has a decent result with a few more wins than losses at around 1400-1500 rating, but is not too reliable for higher ladder

hey im kind of new to your channel but have watched a fair few of your videos binging them. I got inspired to look at gen 3 mons on showdown and was surprised to see Ursaring in UUBL. As a huge fan of Ursaring starting in XD gale darkness I was wondering how it got there and if it has any use in Gen 3 OU?

Ursaring is largely outclassed in its role as a normal type in the OverUsed environment by Snorlax, which is far bulkier and more suited to set up on the metagame with a bulky Curse set. Ursa has the classic problem of being "too frail and too slow"; its best boosting move is Swords Dance but it does not have the speed to back up the use of such an aggressive boosting move; neither does it have the bulk required to run a defensively boosting set (Bulk Up) as effectively as a Curse Snorlax in the OverUsed environment. The fact that it is outsped and dealt significant damage by a significant portion of the metagame, including threats such as Salamence, Aerodactyl, etc. Furthermore, it has to pick its attacking moveslots carefully; and lacking one coverage tool can cause it to be walled by an OverUsed staple. The best team style perhaps on which you could fit Ursaring is a SpeedPass style alongside Magneton that baton passes an agility boost to the Yogi Bear to make up for its mediocre speed, and gets rid of the pesky Skarmory that Ursa hates.

Articuno lost its high SPA in GSC but ended up going from UU with an OU niche in RBY to being banned from UU in the next 2 gens for being way too tanky with a spikes immunity on top. Shame about Stealth Rock. It basically lost everything. :(
