Yes! Many people can relate with that since Winsor & Newton is widely distributed around the world. For a good part of the watercolor community, these professional pigments started their creative journey.

For me W&N has the cleanest reds and blues, I look to Daniel Smith for earths, except I do like W&N raw sienna in skies.

Yes. Although it is a convenience mixture, Raw Sienna does the job excellently.

What a treat, blues are my favourite colour...and it's amazing the subtle variations from makers/brands. I do tend to love the clean bright blues of W&N and the pretty granulation of some of them.

I agree! Blue pigments seem to be the strongest pillars of Winsor & Newton’s Professional Watercolors.

W&N has my favorite version of Prussian Blue. It feels clean and moody at the same time.

Fabulous! I agree that their Prussian Blue is neat and expressive at the same time, which is rare to see.

I was quite surprised when I bought one from Daniel Smith, I didn't like the hue at all. I also love indigo from W&N, it seems more blue than many.

Nice video! When I swatch, I like to outline each shape with a wax stick. Makes for a perfect shape. Even if paint crosses on top of it, it is very easy to wipe it away.

I adore their cerulean blue 🥰 I'm hoping in the future I'll be able to have a palette mainly dedicated to winsor and newton 💙

It's a clean Cerulean. Perfect for bright, summer skies. Aside from their blues, I do like Winsor & Newton's Light Red, Burnt Sienna and Magnesium Brown. 💙

Winsor and Newton isn't my favorite, but I have a few. I never understood the people who are W&N "snobs" for lack of a better term. I think all brands have something to offer, but I definitely see more a cult like following when it comes to this brand compared to others. I think they are decent, but I have more from other brands than I do W&N 🤷‍♀️ I personally like Holbein, Daniel Smith and Da Vinci better. I'd like schmincke more if they weren't so expensive. I honestly think W&N is in the bottom 3 on my list.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! This needs to be shared to a wider audience. Broadly, it is unnecessary for others to be negative about the choices people make. I believe it is disrespectful, especially when people saved every penny just so they could buy watercolors. You are right about “all brands have something to offer.” That’s why I strive to capture the beauty of each pigment on this channel and share their story.

@@stiviwondersExactly! That's one of the reasons I love your channel. You always have something positive to say about all the brands you feature. I don't care what brands other people like better. I don't think it's that serious of a thing, but I do know that I've seen comments on videos on other channels that have left a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to people bashing other brands because they are a "Winsor & Newton" person. I have seen it when it comes to Daniel Smith too, but not as much. Daniel Smith is one of my favorite brands because I love watercolor that does fun things. It just fits better with my art. I like W&N if I am painting something where I don't want a lot of granulation. I like using cheaper watercolors like Da Vinci if I'm doing a large piece with a huge background. W&N is only in my bottom 3 because it doesn't fit with my artistic style as much as others. It's not because I feel like other watercolors are more superior. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for showing us such a variety of brands. I blame you for half of my collection. Haha! Just kidding. I take personal responsibility for all the tubes I've bought 😂 your swatches just influenced me since they are always so stunning! 😍

@@adriannabcustomfurniture Hahaha! "Curate, not collect" is my personal philosophy when it comes to paint/pigment purchases. But I can't blame you! It is really fun to have access to a collection of pigments. And we haven't started talking about paper, brushes, etc. 😂 I am very proud of you for choosing what works for you! Many people come to the watercolor space with a cult-like attitude and that contaminates the space that is designed to nurture our well-being. "What doesn't work for me may not work for others" is something that has guided me so I strive to stay "matter of factly" while pursuing the best aesthetic value or form that I could possibly capture on camera. This is anchored on the principle of needing to respect the intentions of those who want to learn about watercolors. They are investing their time for their journey. It would be a betrayal or denigration of one's existence when instead of sharing encouragement, he chooses to spread negativity online. People need to see the truth so I let the pigments speak for themselves.
