Good video. Nice and concise. Also some lovely shots from your previous tours. It’s a while since I cycled and camped in winter but the short mileage likely to be covered is also true for backpacking. On the power bank issue, even in autumn, mine is happier when charging my iPhone if it’s inside my sleeping bag.

Thanks! Yeah, the battery has been pretty reliable in fairness, but not all power banks are created equal!

On day 18 of my travel from Germany to Spain, despite having ebike in warmer weather in the south, all of these tips still apply. It takes time to learn about yourself as a rider, your bike and equipment. I have a couple of kilos of redundant and emergency items, just in case.

Glad it’s relevant in other seasons as well!

My personal experience: slow down and enjoy. Days are short and cold, keep warm, take a nice coffee at a café, enjoy a silent evening in your tent. In an hectic world, bikepacking in winter is the chance to calm down. I love it.

Funny you should say that! Check back on Sunday! 😉

My tip would also apply to summer in the UK tbh but it is...bring a woolly hat! Sleep in it. You won't regret it!

Brilliant. Even in summer in SW Scotland, I'm an onion!

Filling a Nalgene bottle or Platypus with hot water for inside your sleeping bag hrlps mitigate cold. Carry a pee bottle for inside your tent too (makes for a good hot wwter bottle too). Snd keep lights and electronics next to your body to save battery life. Cheers
