Carried extra socks for years. Injust start caring water purification tablets because we were under a boil water advisory from the city last month. Never thought I would see that.

Good bag and items. That bag is really nice with the features it has. I know you probably carry a lighter, but I'd also get a good quality ferro rod. One thing you need is a UCO candle lantern. Because if it is really cold and you have to stop to rest but can't fix food, you can put it under a poncho or blanket (not touching it) and get warm. I carry one in my car to use if I get stuck. You sound like you have an excellent mindset in choosing your stuff. Thanks for showing it to us. Take Care and Stay Safe.

Nice looking set up, simple and to the point, I like that. How about a fire starting? I didn't see that. I like to carry a small fishing kit with a few yoyo reals, there pretty cheap and work for you while you're doing other things. 👍👍

I like that style of bag I carry one similar to it. I always recommend bags with outside pockets to carry water. That way you don’t have to worry about them leaking inside your bag and getting everything wet.

For a go-bag. I’d take solid fuel tabs over alcohol. They are also good fire starters. I always carry them for emergency.

20-25 pounds is a lot if you have a substantial distance to travel but you have nothing that I wouldn’t have myself 👍. I also have 2-16 oz bottles of water and 2-16 oz bottles of Gatorade, because when you leave it may be in a hurry and your goal is to put distance between you and your present location. The bottles can be refilled when you have the opportunity.

I use to hitchhike with 50 pounds of gear

if you're often more than 15 miles from home, keep a taken down bicycle in your car. Remove the front wheels, rotate the forks, remove the pedals, handlebars and seat and the bike becomes a very compact package, lock and cable it and a tarp into the bed of your pickup truck, if need be. you can re-assemble it in 10 mintes. 15 miles is an exhausting, all day hike with 20 lbs of water and gear for most people. It's a pleasant 1.5 hour pedal on a bike (if the way is paved) or a panicked pump of one hour. you have to get home before everyone goes crazy (ie, the first day ) and if you dont, youll have to be dodging groups of crazy people, Then you might need several days and nights to get home and by THEN, it could easily have been burned to the ground, looted, etc.

I don't have a car and in my experience bikes are a pain in the ass. I tried biking across America a few times and decided to stick with walking. I use to hitchhike so I know about carrying gear. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend

@@kalstreksandtrails7606 your bol has to be within 1-2 night's walk and without the bike, y can carry only 1/3d as much stuff. 90% of the population will be dead 6 months after shtf, but that might be at the start of winter, so no crops will be possible. The fish and game will all be gone in 2 months. by 90 days, the dogs and cats will have been eaten and everyone will be a cannibal. You can bury powdered milk, grains, grain mill, sugar, salt, vinegar. Koolaid Bring the coconut oils and the nut butters. If you try to do everything on foot, you'll be dead or a cannibal in 6 months. The 150 lbs of stuff you can lash to a bicycle, tow behind it and walk beside let you last a year, which means that you can then have small, hidden plots of peanuts, root veggies and sprouts

@@kalstreksandtrails7606 you know that you can't carry enough gear, food and water to make it more than a very few days. Is shtf, there wont be any using of the roads, or you'll get killed. There wont be anything in daylight except hiding. The roads will be full of tire flatteners and ambushes. You'll be disposed of by one pellet from a .177 rifle, one round of subsonic 22 from a silenced rifle, or one crossbow bolt and they'll take your stuff. They wont want the risk/compeition that you represent, so they'll just remove you from the equation.

not one word about the most important stuff, ' heavy clotihing, sleep/shelter gear. I see you have some, but never mention it. Why not ? shtf is likely to mean combat, and you have no gun, no armor, no night vision. So I'd say you're 20+ lbs short of the gear needed and you'd better not need a fire, due to the threat from others. That means you can't even handle 40F, with rain and wind.
