I don't plan to live in it full time, but use it as a travel and towing rig so I can go back on the road with my horses (and now my kids) to teach like I used to before Covid and having twin baby boys! I'm looking for one with a body pretty much just like yours, but I'd go for an older one with the 7.3 diesel if it didn't have too many miles on it. I'm 6' tall, and I learned from you that the Collins has more height, so thanks for that! If you come across any good ones in the PNW or bay area, let me know! ♥

So sorry about the electrical fire, glad you guys are ok! Just FYI, propane emits h2o when it combusts, so it might be pretty inefficient at drying super wet stuff. I noticed a big difference in less humidity in my rig when I switched from propane heat to diesel. Y’all are learning road stuff so fast! It’s full of headaches but I wouldn’t trade it for anything :) xo

So true! Yeah it seems like it works well For drying clothing but after a while we get lots of condensation on the windows if we just use the buddy heater. That’s a really good tip. Yes totally wouldn’t trade it for anything!

We’ve been looking into diesel heaters and think we’ll implement one for next winter. Love it up there in Tahoe! We chose bus over van because we were gonna be full-time and wanted the space the bus provided for us.

Many nice shots. The drone shot of the snow covered rocks beside the lake were a "wow" shot. I liked hearing about the little heat stove. Interested to hear what caused the electrical fire and how you delt with it. Sorry to hear about it and very glad it wasn't worse!

Hey Rick! Thank you so glad you enjoyed. We think our “smart” isolator that connects the bus to the solar batteries caused the fire. We’re guessing the main unit failed and sent too much power to our batteries. Thankfully it was fairly contained and we were saved by our ground wire.

Hi Emily! Glad you enjoyed the video. So what we did was photoshop out the wood stove & didn’t tell our insurance about it. We couldn’t find anywhere that insured us with it so we went around it 🤷‍♂️🤫

If you want to have your bus batteries charge your solar while you drive, go DC to DC charger rather than smart battery isolator. Much safer and more reliable from what we gather

Dang! Our system has a fuse from the charge controller to the batteries in a worst case overload scenario. I should double check my wiring though. Did yours not? We have 300w and is plenty enough for what were we need. Next project is a rooftop deck!
