Charming video with gorgeous photography. (I must say, you two are much more culinarily ambitious than I. When I go out for short two or three-day hikes, I rarely bring more than some beef jerky, fruit strips, tortillas, nuts, and oatmeal. I used to haul up a complete backpacker's pantry, but found it much too cumbersome and troublesome. I finally decided that I don't go hiking to eat gourmet meals--I save that for other times and places. I just bring enough to keep my energy up while avoiding too much cooking and cleaning.) Good for you for making it all so much fun. Well done! Looking forward to more.

My wife and I hike to Burley Mt about 20+ yrs ago it was very fun 2 nites in mid winter. The lookout was in need of some repair at that time but not as bad as it appears now. we had cotacted the fs and offered to repair but we were told that a national fire lookout organization was going to take it over. We are very pleased to see you kids out hiking a enjoing your selves and to forest etc.
@TravelersTale3 жыл бұрын
Yeah Burley Mountain is definitely a little more worn than some lookouts haha. I'm sure it will be renovated one day, especially given the easy summer access! Thanks for watching!

I know what lookout that is. I rode my bike up there in the summer time. It's too bad that the woodstove was removed. I cooked a huge pot of oatmeal with native blackberries I picked and boiled water for coffee on that stove. I'd love to spend the night up there before the road gets cleared of snow.
@piddy38253 жыл бұрын
considering how much gear you guys pack along, what about one of those portable light weight wood stoves? Here you could just ran the exhaust vent pipe right up and outta the hole where the original one used to sit. Probably wasn't too terribly cold up there at that time of year, but a little warmth is always nice, right?

This video summaries how LUCKY you are to have moved on from Rosa. I can’t find anything she said or did in this video that was positive. So sorry that your heart was set on her and aches, but you dodged a bullet. Let the universe bring you what you deserve.

he's no prize sweetheart. All he talks about is how snowed in he is, no personality, no interests, nothinginsightful ever comes out of his mouth. Pay attention to him when he talks- he just describes his surroundings. All his money wasn't enough to keep her around and I respect that she went back to her crappy old car instead of staying with him just to live in the fancy van.

You go hiking in winter, carry a pan, pot an all the nice things from home where is the Aluminum foil, paper plate over fire . Cry your cold so she slides down the hill an freezes her butt and hope you got a picture of it. Start reading up on cold weather medicine. Start looking for surplus gear, cold weather sleeping bags ( I'm in florida and I have one) metal plates, and everything else.

There's no way this is Desolation Peak. Its in Northern Washington State along Ross Lake near the Canadian Border and you would not be able to see Mount Adams like there showing here which is in southern Washington. Oh yes Burley Mountain Fire Lookout in Gifford Pinchot National Forest of Southern Washington State
@UncaDave3 жыл бұрын
Might this be Desolation Peak where Jack Kerouac stayed as LO in about 1956. Funny you guys don’t have any historical references here. A collapsible compact wood stove or portable camp stove might help here. If you never heard of Kerouac, time to start reading. I’m 75, still love to read. Time for an advice quote: “Silence is a fence around wisdom.” Rabbi Akita. Video will hopefully urge others up this mountain. Next time in the snow bring sunglasses. Ever heard of snowblind?
