The UP is a magical place with a welcoming culture and plenty to do all year round - especially for hearty souls. I camped in a plywood shelter on the shores of Superior in the winter last year and just bought a 4-season trailer so I can visit more often. Thanks for sharing your experience!

That was an absolute delight to watch....and I expect even more so for folks who were there... Nothing like crisp white snow and stillness that you get when in the wood in winter. What a great job putting this video together... you guys are living the dream for sure !!!!!

how fun!! I will be working for a few more January's, and that is our busy time with cold and flu season, would never get the time off work. Retire after two more January's, so perhaps then. Looks like a blast!! I am a hiker, and I have already in the short time I have been doing this how much fun it can be outdoors in the winter, if you prepare and have the right gear, and use your brain to keep safe. This is gonna have to go on my bucket list!!

I used to live up there on a 'gentleman's farm' in Levering. I loved it but driving 55 mph on slippery roads is a little crazy! I never did make it across the bridge. Chickened out every time!

Living in Michigan, we've been to TF lots of time--even in the winter. It's beautiful all year round. Camping there looks like fun. I noticed all the campers are in Class B RV's. We have a TT and a Ford F-150. Hopefully we can meet up with you next January, as we'll be retired by then. Safe travels & happy camping!!
@Trekers5 жыл бұрын
We have a variety of camping styles. The trip started with a group of Class B RVers so we tend to outnumber others, but we've had travel trailers, fifth wheels, and tents. Head on up next January, it's lots of fun!

We'll be back up there the second or third weekend in January next year. reservations don't open until six months before but as soon as they do, I'll post it on the RV Lifestyle Blog (rvlifestyle.com). Honest, it's really fun. It got down one night to five below zero (F), but inside the RV, it was toasty warm at 73.

I enjoyed this video so much. It brought back memories of when hubby and I were in Michigan. We crossed the Mighty MAC in a Roaster with the top down. You probably guessed we were there in the summer. I wondered what the UP would look like in the winter. Thanks for taking me along on your trip.

Hello, thank you for the beautiful video! We're from northern Ohio, on Lake Erie, and live in the lower Midwest, where winter and snow are rare. We miss the Great Lakes and winter (people here, who have never lived there, don't understand our longing). Skiing. Nordic skiing. Silently gliding through the forest is a contemplative delight. Our question is: when camping in an RV in the winter, what do you do about water sources? Are there frost free water pumps in the state park? Again, thank you for the taking us on your journey. (I remember going across the bridge soon after it was opened. I think there were only four other cars on the bridge. At least that is what my parents told me.)

Excellent video. Such a nice relief from the sun sun sun ones from Florida and Arizona. Do you have any concerns about road salt damage to the undercarriage of the van. We live in upstate NY and road salt is a major problem here with vehicle damage in just a few years. Even with washing beneath our trucks as often as the weather will allow, after 5 years we're already replacing parts. Maybe Michigan just isn't as free flowing with salt as New York is.

Awesome! That looked like a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Living in northern Indiana I've been to all those places but in the summer. Wow, so beautiful. I’m quite envious. We don’t get this type of snow in the UK very often. Definitely on my bucket list to visit when we retire. I may have to do two visits, one in the winter and one in the summer. Bo is very handsome. We have a Labrador named Tilly and she loves coming camping with us, especially to the beach 👍
