It's great that someone can take the time and trouble to record all this work to help others.

Great to see someone having a go. Brilliant mate even though it's a big job tackled well. How's the car running now???

Runs and drives well although I’ve only probably done a few hundred miles in it. My only gripe is I have a sort of whining noise linked to engine RPM, can’t see any obvious issues thinking maybe I have a loose vacuum line or something like that. Going to take it to a mechanic I trust for a check over as I’m sure on the ramps it will be easier to pin point than me laid in my back in the garage. But yeah as far as the initial problem the car is much much happier, no fault codes or rough idle, no more chain noise 😊

@@allsystemsdownagain9553 170k or something now so its done well on the original chain to be fair. Only one owner from new though and he did mainly motorway miles in it.

Your idle seems the same as mine, crappy idle out of the blue followed by a P0016 Fault. When yours was like this, did it still seem to drive fine?

k20daily it did run totally fine once under load, was only really at low speeds part throttle and idle the issue showed up. Check latest episode it explains what issues actually was for me in the end (not the chains).

@@est8337 I'll watch them today, wonder if it was the same as mine...... Something small and no where near as bad as the chains

k20daily if it is the VVT solenoid/s follow the workshop guide exactly on how to remove them. If you don’t and they get stuck then chains have to come off anyway to knock them out from the back (unless it’s the intake one that can be accessed still thankfully).
