As someone who plays, works, and lives north of 60° I can’t stress enough how getting out and trying things is the only way to get better at being comfortable out in the winter. Start out in warm is conditions and work out the basics then start trying to go out in colder and colder conditions. It won’t be nearly as u comfortable or disheartening. Love the videos sir. Look forward to seeing more.

Excellent video. Really well done. I've always been big on head and shoulders (upper body) to break up the silhouette whilst moving and in the prone, so long as its not overdone where things snag and interfere with operating kit and equipment etc. Very glad to see another Englishman online, doing this stuff. A real shame its not as big here in Blighty. God bless.

The method with the duct tape is modular too - I have an old German Army Schneetarn poncho and I love it, but I didn't pick a suit up because I felt that I'm sometimes a snowman when I need to be 50% and 50% miserable, wet environment. It would be a pain to keep putting on and taking off your suit in such cases and it's easier with a poncho, but I think this method might be better than that too. Unless you are blessed with consistent snowfall. I love snow, but it's like good women - here now, goes for the mud later. But I am not a member of the Alpini or anything - I'm a regular civilian guy who trains whenever he can and not on the North Pole.

Great point about the extra time due to the season. Also consider terrain. Up and down and around takes longer than flat. And time energy and supplies for getting there and back. Don’t go ten miles or ten days out. When you only have 5 miles there 5 miles back of strength energy food water or 5 days there and 5 days back worth of stuff. Get there at 10 miles or days and not enough to get back. Works for shorter or longer distances and time.

You could save yourself a lot of time and trouble by buying an enlarged size Tyvek coverall to cover your body - inexpensive. Additionally, cover and tape the helmet, plate carrier, etc with Tyvek. Then buy a few cans of colored spray paint to add "camo" coloring after deciding from a distance where on the coveralls and other gear you think it best to paint to eliminate the perception of a human and the gear you're carrying.

great video, hope to see more, would like to add, you have a great fire starting aid in your bandoleer, the gunpowder in a cartridge, the bullet can be pulled using your leatherman/gerber pliers or pressing the bullet tip on a hard object and bend the case neck and working the bullet out.

Love the video!! I really like the presentation and articulation. I live in a “discount Afghanistan” 😂 part of the world (with intense winters) and everything you addressed was spot on 👍 I learned a lot that I started implementing immediately and I keep finding myself looking back over parts of the video. With the quality of the content I thought you were a much bigger channel at first glance 😄. Can you do a video on muddy and/or wet conditions?

nice, much work went into this. but that camo makes one visible when moving. instead of imposing a WW1 battleship, i'd pick lower contrast patterns to blur movement and use the equipment itself to break the shape. the goal would be to appear "organic". much of that depends on the terrain, are we in open white, woods, hills? a 10$ surplus poncho might do the trick here. but that's just my opinion as a visual designer.

Judging by the terrain and vegetation Im guessing you're on the east coast, in Appalachia.? Just guessing, not really asking. Anyhow I have birch bark for fire building up here. Super awesome material. However, in the rainforest up here there are times when you simply cannot get a fire going. Mother nature has a habit of a really really wet summers and autumns. W/o warning winter swoops in w/o a pause in precipitation and freezes everything solid that is totally waterlogged to its core from months of rain. It's a real dose of reality if someone gets caught in a situation where they need fire....Good video- thnx for sharing. I have loads more questions but Ill save them for another time.

When using the tape for Camo, are there any major concerns with painted equipment?
@Echo_Mike
@Echo_Mike 6 ай бұрын
The cheaper tape is better, take it off slowly and no paint will be removed. 100MPH or high strength duct tape will remove paint. Electrical tape I find is fine as long as it doesn’t cure in hot weather
