Sorry if this comes across as Captain Obvious, but my tip on managing for cold hands on the bike... apply the same sort of layering strategies as you use for other parts of your body. Years ago I bought a set of the Assos 3-glove system that covers me for everything from temps where I start thinking about gloves (around 50F) to well below freezing. The 3 different gloves are: a thin, "Spring-Fall" liner glove; a fitted, insulated "Early Winter" glove (that incorporates a layer of Gore-Tex or comparable windproof membrane); and a "Winter" lobster-style shell. The different pieces are meant to be used separately (although I can't think of a scenario where I'd wear the lobster shell by itself) or combined based on conditions and personal preference. They work almost exactly like a base layer, mid layer, and shell jacket, but for your hands. Like everything Assos makes, their glove system is really elegant if expensive (and I don't even know if they sell the system anymore), but you can of course DIY a version on the cheap.

hi! happy to see you riding a bike too. About managing legs temperature… remember that while cycling your legs are moving, exercising…. totally the contrary on a motorbike. Feet, hands, head…a complete different story. Do you feel confortable enough? I mean.. you look not properly set ‘on’. When you have a chance, try to get a professional bike fitting Frequently small changes produce huge improvement and a more enjoyable experience.

Yo , Ko. Add some merino wool socks to you kit, they are wonderful when it’s cold keeping the toes warm. I like the Defeet brand but there are a lot of choices, and they can be worn on winter runs as well!

I know Decathlon for many years, good to see that this brand is now also available across the Atlantic, even down south of the border! Good quality and really competitive prices 👍🏻

I'm a cyclist first and a runner second so I really appreciate this content...winter riding can be brutal but with the right gear it's very rewarding. Glad to see the bike bug bite you :D

I once went on a winter run with brother in law. I ran and he rode a fat bike. we both had frozen hair and eyelashes by the time we finished. I'm not sure I could ride in those kinds of temps (single digit F), but I'm hoping I can still get in some miles even in the winter

Decathlon cycling kit is really good, especially the 900 range. Even the low end stuff is good. Get some cheap lights you can leave on the bike. And a set you take with you. That way you are covered for theft / forgetting/ dead battery.

Just bought the same jacket from Decathlon but in black colour. At the moment it haa a huge sale discount in Germany an I bought it for only arround 37 bucks. For the price it is really a steal!

Me too. It was 69 euro but on sale only at 29 euro in Italy. I buy this Yellow and another black version (branded van rysel but Is the same jacket) both for less than 60 euro in total! Amazing deal and the quality Is super good!

I prefer their van rysel line. Their winter jackets are really good. I returned the gloves as they weren’t windproof enough..

If the chamois causes rubbing then I would suggest ordering a size down. However, the chamois should fit better after a couple of washes like you mentioned. You want it to fit snug and a little uncomfortable rather than loose and too comfortable to the point where it causes rubbing
@kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
it's not causing chafing. it's just preventing me from pulling up the tights as high as I would want them to fit properly. a bit of a log jam situation.

Hi Mike. Would the jacket be good for running? I've often wondered if cycling gear was a good cross-over.

Got to worry about dogs when running, and geese when riding. Do you wear anything on your head under your helmet?
@kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
I have some thinner winter hats I can wear under the helmet, but haven’t felt the need to put them on. Yet.

Cycling gear is so expensive. I look for bargains on ebay and Amazon. For cold weather cycling the overshoes are a must. I live in Florida, and 50 degrees or below my feet a frozen. I got some cheap overshoes for 5 dollars

Hi Kofuzi, thanks for the top video and review, how does the quality feel? , what temps and wind speed 0were u testing in, 🚴♂️ how long a ride makes a difference too. Regards to the pad it definitely cos you want a small in all cycling gear as I have found since I started beginning of the year, 148 and 511 30 waist. . Enjoy some nice rides now,

Shoe covers just don't work for me. They are pain to put on / take off. The best money I spent was on some shimano goretex winter boots. An expensive extra cost but absolute game changer. Other brands probably just as good - just having a dedicated Winter SPD cycling boot is a purchase you won't regret

Lights though? I'd highly recommend them. Don't give the drivers an excuse. Lights can save your life. Please get lights, leave them on your bike permanently. If you need more insulation on your legs for those polar temps a pair of leg warmers will help, layers upon layers in general for everything. For the feet a layer of baking foil inside the shoe does the trick.Then there's mudguards if it's wet!
@kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
I just keep forgetting to order the lights
@tednruth4532 жыл бұрын
Please please please use lights please, without them you're invisible to drivers. Please. Multiple lights, reflectors, flashing lights, constant lights, front and back, on the bike, on your helmet. Please.

Never ride with 1 hand on the handlebar, it can easily cause an accident when you apply a sudden braking....thats from my experience of many years riding.

I believe eddbud has reviewed those. They’re the same midsole with changes only to the upper. But, that can sometimes make a difference.
