Tip on backing down the trailer…put your hand at the very bottom of the steering wheel. Then turn in the direction you want the trailer to go. So wheel left, trailer left. Wheel right, trailer right.

Them Flatties are hard to catch, I think the days of laying into them are rare. The area around that pier and bridge is your best chance. I never had luck in the areas with thick mud bottom. We use a big brake rotor to stir up the bottom. I hope this helps. So very very cool to see a Jersey Flounder video...Thank you.

Thanks so much for watching Brew!! Do you still fish for them?

Haven't tried since the spring of 2021. We got some by Forked river. You should try using clams and mussels for hook baits sometimes they prefer them over worms. I have done well with mussels at times. Good luck .

It's probably easier to back in the bigger boat you can't really see that little trailer behind the truck. And the little trailers are really touchy.

Im saying this because i want you to succeed, so dont take what i say the wrong way. That being said your set up is all wrong. Do not side anchor with two anchors that is a big no no when flounder fishing. I bet any amount of money you had flounder there but since your set up was wrong they never bite. all your chug was going down current and the fish would basically stay down current and never see your line. What you need to do is single anchor from the front of your boat. this allows the back of your boat to be down current. Then have the chum pot about 3/4 up the boat. So now you have chum covering 3/4 of your boat under water and then the rest goes off the back. so what that does is allow a great chum slick and the flounder will follow your chum slick all the way up to the pot where they will have to pass your lines in the water. as for rod set up being one man have have a dead mans rod in the back of the boat on the side of your pot that you will watch. then yourself be halfway up the boat right before the chum pot. you will catch most of the fish with the one you are holding because for whatever reason flounder will always want to see where the chum is coming from. That being said both of your lines are in the chum slick and the chances of you catch fish multiple a lot. If the fish are there you will catch them i promise. I hope you get another shot at this before you travel down south, if you listen to what i said and the fish are there i promise you it will be worth it!!! best of luck safe travels

Oh man can't thank you enough for the info and for watching!! I always find that I swing so darn much on single anchor since it's just always windy. But if I get a decent day I will certainly try. This was my only trip for them this spring. It's on to tuna and boat prep now!!

@@reaperfishingnj8623 It's not the same, but if you really want to lay into them, just to say you did, head out to some wrecks around the periphery of the mud hole from Late April to Mid June. Stay close to the wrecks, but not so close that you will get demolished by the hordes of seasbass that didn't push inshore yet. Downsize your hooks and drop sand or bloodworms or muscle bits. You'd be amazed. Sucks that you can only keep two, but half the fun is figuring out the migration and new trends. Not sure if you'd find the same thing at wrecks along the 20 and 30 line out of Absecon Inlet. Maybe take 5 minutes during a bathroom break on the way to the Hudson or Tom's. (Or if we get that now-yearly and consistent early season Bluefin bite up my way. One month away!!!)
