And here I am a year later, and this year, I'm looking at SNOW in my garden. So unusual since rain is our winter norm. So my winter "to do" is long done, luckily. We'll see how things fare. Hope you're faring well while everyone is on strike in the UK. I hope they all settle soon for fair contracts.

Hey Candace. Yes the weather patterns have been nuts recently. I feel for all the workers on strike given how expensive the cost of living rises have been. It’s been a tough few years for our public sector workers. 🤘🥷🌿

It's probably a good thing I got your notification. I probably would have frittered away my day, but now I'm inspired to go see what needs doing in the garden. Thanks. :)

Good video Lee. I find that even as an alleged seasoned gardener, watching these types of videos gives me impetus to get my procrastinatous bottom out into the garden and get on with tidying up and planning for the Spring. Cheers Lee.

Morning Billy! Good to hear from you. Well we all need a little push at time. I know I do. So more appealing in January to sit by a fire somewhere. However even doing a little bit on the garden does wonders for lifting the glib January blue mood! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿🤘

I thought you might mention the planting of spring flowering bulbs either here or in a recent video. I bought some bulbs on special offer in March, but they didn't come up in April so I gave up: their shoots have started to appear in January! So many interesting pleasant lessons when gardening for the first time such as a cold period needed to kick start germination.

Hey Barrios. Well January isn’t the best time for bulb planting which is why I didn’t cover it usually mid autumn is best. I’ve planted as late as feb some times but like you’ve shown it can be hit and miss. For new gardeners I like to show them ways to succeed so avoid anything a bit uncertain! I do have a guide on planting bulbs in the green here which maybe of interest! Happy gardening! Lee 🥷🌿🙌 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXPanKGXbJyIp68

Super video for a beginner gardener, thanks for sharing. My only comment is that some 'weeds' like dandelions are really important for early bee populations so I would be encouraging people not to pull these up. We need to change how we think about 'weeds'to promote biodiversity and consider their benefit to nature. Thanks!
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shona. Thanks for the comment. Yes you’re right that dandelions do provide early nectar but so do other plants. So what I’d say is leave weeds where there are no other discernible pollen rich plants or spring flowers. Better a weed there than nothing else. 🙌 However…as Garden Ninjas you’ll all be well aware of using native plants and herbaceous perennials to extend the season for wildlife along with mini meadows!! 😜🥰So yes I agree and yes I also weed to allow other nectar rich plants to thrive too! 🌿🥷🙌 Lee

Hi Big D. Many thanks! If it’s deciduous you can do it now. If it’s evergreen I’d wait until spring to plant it out in the ground! Hope that helps. You can find out more here. www.gardenninja.co.uk/winter-gardening-jobs-for-beginners-garden-maintenance-made-easy/ 🥷🌿🙌

Wonderful, so far I've done everything right. However, when is the best time to give a large forsythia a really good prune? I'd need to use a saw. Thank you in advance.
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Libelle. Thanks so much!! Forsythia needs to be prune AFTER it flowers. Which will be soon! Don’t prune before then or you’ll lose the flowers. Hope that helps. Lee 🥷🌿🙌

Hey Lee, thanks for another upload full of vital tips! Greedy I know, but two points I'd love your consideration on: I have obtained a large galvanised water rank I'd like to 3/4 submerge into a slate rockery pile. Is winter a good time? Having finished a gorgeous stone sundial on the lawn, I'd like to plant creeping thyme between the stones. Is now to early? Rich, in Devon

I have a Salix Mount Aso grafted tree which is 2m tall, the branches are 4m long and trailing across the lawn. What would you advise me to do now it's heading into winter. Thank you
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja Жыл бұрын
Hi Ken. Great question. A lot of people buy these Salix also known as flamingo trees and their growth can be far quicker than people imagine!! They’re super tough. So my advice would be cut off 6-10 inches off the ends of the branch to an outward facing leave or bud. Winter is the prime time as it’s dormant. Happy pruning! If you have more questions why not use the garden ninja forum where you can upload pics and get advice from thousands of Ninjas! www.gardenninja.co.uk/forum/ 🥷🤘🌿
