In those situations while shoveling the snow we just have to look up and see all our neighbours suffering through it the same! The mix of comaraderie and endorphins while trudging through the snow can be quite exhilarating!! Knowing that even if your car doesn't start or if your stuck in ice that someone is always nearby (granted you don't live off the grid) and willing to help is one of many reasons why I adore my country :)

@don-cw1yz4 жыл бұрын
@@DailyDoseofSpace. Your funny. One CM of snow you could use a broom to brush off the driveway. I bet after shovelling 2 feet of snow out of a driveway you would not be saying I could shovel all day. By the way, after you shovel the driveway the municipal road snowplough truck come by and you now have a 3-foot high drift of snow that will take you an hour of shovelling. Next day it happens again. If you live in Canada you have a gas snow blower, you put snow tires on your vehicle in November.

Winter in Canada looks so much more preferable to the one we get in Sweden. Ours is almost no snow until late in December, and most of that snow just turns into slush. Maybe once every 3 years, we get a proper winter with temperatures down to -20 or -25 C. I just love it. The air doesn't get so moist and I can breathe better. I'd like to add: when it's below -30, any exposed skin will feel like little pins and needles are hitting your skin and then it will go numb and will feel stiff. When you breathe in cold air like that, you will feel the hairs in your nostrils freeze. Taking in a breath of freezing air can be very refreshing (unless it's when you're scraping ice off your car so early in the morning). Huge snowball fights at school were the most fun times one could have at school; but the teachers usually stopped us because they were scared that thete might be rocks and ice in the snowballs

In my country on avarage temperature in the winter are -6 Degrees Celcius but they can reach about to -12 Degrees Celcius in the night,in the spring on avarage its from +12 Degrees Celcius to 4 Degrees Celcius in the night,in summer the avarage temperature is about 30 Degrees Celcius to about 20 Degrees Celcius in the night,in autumn the avarage temperature is about +11 Degrees Celcius and in the night it's +2 Degrees Celcius.It's really not that cold in the winter,or not too hot in the summer.It does snow alot in the winter,it may be a bit warm but that doesn't mean the snow melts quickly,it melts in a few weeks,and the summer is pleasently hot,not like burning hot,moderatly hot,also every season here is made up of 3,we also exprience all of the seasons fully and truly,the winter may be much more pleasent than in Canada but i would like colder weather to see what it's all about,and yes we do expirience solstices,and equanoxes,i like my country very much.

Wow, what a thoughtful comment. Thank you. For all our latest videos where we go more into cities, towns, etc, we've been doing them a little more blogging style to suit the platform but I do like this style quite a bit. For Karla, it wasn't that bad. For the most part, you're indoors and when you do go out, if you dress well, it's not that bad. When it's super cold, none of us are used to it haha. But a big part is probably that she enjoys the winter because we like skiing, skating, etc and it looks beautiful. Plus, in the west, the winter is a dry cold. We were just on the east coast and that humidity makes it feel so much worse

Where are you guys, cause from where I'm from -25 is seasonal and kids still go to school in -30. They just might not have outdoor recess if there's added wind chill. Something I thought was standard in the country shocked me to find that other provinces close schools at or near -30. Sure you gotta bundle up, but it makes -20 balmy when you get it, to the point where after a cold snap (with -40 wind chill) you find double digit temperatures spring jacket (read thin jacket) weather. Ps, you can survive the winter without central heating, it's called wood heat, like with a wood stove. I know lots of people who have done it for years, and it cuts down on bills because you don't have to pay for heat.
@MustDoCanada4 жыл бұрын
We're in Calgary and I don't think the schools close here that easily either. I lived up North most of my life and we definately didn't get school cancelled often. Wood can definately work for cabins and rural homes possibly, but if everyone did that, there'd be no trees left haha. And it would also be expensive. But I do love a wood fire when I'm at a cabin. So cozy :)
@kanashiiookami65374 жыл бұрын
@@MustDoCanada several people in my area heat with wood, only taking dead fall. Been doing it for over a decade and the trees are still flourishing. But yes, you do need a lot of wood to heat your home for the winter, but that really depends on how well insulated your house is and if there are any draughts. One set of friends has to stoke the fire every hour or so just to keep it going. Which means through the night as well, but their house is on the breezy side. Whereas another couple get away with a day time fire and stay toasty of the residual heat at night. And that bit on the schools closing, I was just repeating what I heard on the news. The fact that the reporters were shocked people in my area still send kids out to recess in weather that would make adults in some places cower in frostbite fear and give kids days off school until the cold snap is over. And yes, if everybody in the cold parts of the world did heat with wood and wood alone, we'd not last many winters but man, nothing beats warming up by a fire after being outside in winter, especially when you're unlucky enough to have no choice about going out to care for animals in -50 wind chill.

Hi Guys, loved the video. We visited BC and Alberta last northern summer. Had a great time in a fantastic truck camper. Here in Australia our winters are never as severe for most of the country. As with Canadians heading far south for your winter we try to head north for ours. Generally anywhere above the Tropic of Capricorn provides a warm to hot winter. Where we live it might get to minus 6C occasionally on a winter’s night. Snow is very rare. A pleasant winter’s day is around 12 to 14 C. Some winter I hear you say! Again thanks for the great video.

@@johonanandrewgomes7593 in Canada you have to worry aboot rabid dogs and foxs and trust me you don't want to know how fast foxs run when their rabid. @@muktagaur4105 I'm not sure we'll be able to that soon, unfortunately. We will try but we have a bunch of videos we're working on right now. However, I would say it's important to have warm waterproof boots, gloves, and a touque. I don't tend to wear anything over my pants unless I'm skiing or spending significant time outdoors. A good jacket is good too, but at least you can wear layers for the upper bodyy. For general day to day activities, I just wear normal pants like jeans, light winter boots, jacket, gloves, and a touque or ear-muffs. If I'm out doing an activity like skiing or snowshoeing or something like that, then I might add thermal underwear (pants and shirt) and snow pants. You might want to check a thrift store as well, especially since kids grow all the time. Probably good deals!
