Agree! Also, that type of easy lace actually goes faster than stocking stitch. If you make a start you could maybe finish the body during the 12 h knit?! You have been incredibly busy, with both livestream plans and knitting. Loved the podcast :)

I primarily buy yarn on cones in my favorite colors to wear. I display the cones on shelves in my office so I can look at the beautiful colors. When I feel excited about a particular color or a particular pattern, I start knitting. I have lots of left over yarn so I knit socks or colorwork sweaters/hats when I have enough leftovers. I love Holstgarn Supersoft for many reasons; cost, color, and it comes on a cone. I also buy Yarn2Cone Woolyknit from the UK also. I prefer fingering weight (4ply) yarn because I can use it double strand or with titicaca or a mohair. It is so versatile and it allows me to be creative.

I was finishing my sweater no 15 as I watched this video 😊 you are going to love it, it's very relaxing. Also,about holst supersoft, I actually knitted it in holst supersoft held together with a mohair and got just the perfect drape. Unfortunately, since I didn't hold it single, I can't speak for how soft it is after washing. But it is true that it blooms and softens a lot after a good wash. Can't wait to see your progress on those winter plans of yours. Cheers!

I am repeating a pattern for fingerless mittens I didn't think I could knit a gift knit in time but I found the Men's Fingerless Mittens by Elizabeth Deremiah and it ony took my evening/ morning sessions to complete a pair. So working on a 2nd pair I bought some balls of Mondial BioLana whilst in Bilboa so great to use stash yarn up. It's was my first go a cables. I've got my Ravelry queue all prepared with projects to use stash and will be casting on my Marie Wallin project this Christmas.

I am really looking foward to taking part of your charity knit along marathon. I am always doing a new year's CO - for 2024 I am going to make the "Flagship Vest" by Espace Tricot, so 12 hours knitting in good company sounds perfect to me. 😀 I am currently knitting the "Eva Cardigan" (with Drops Daisy) and the "Liko Sweater" (with Holst Supersoft). I did the "Buggiflooer Beanie" (with Cumbria by The Fibre Co.) the week the pattern was published. And I am loving it! Such a fun and quick knit! My other winter-knitting-plans: "Talkeetna" by Caitlin Hunter and "Elah" by Isabell Kraemer. The "Fern Sweater" is also on my list (for 2024). I will knit it with the roll neck, this detail makes the sweater so special!

Lovely winter plans and gorgeous colours! This beret is so pretty, I look forward to seeing your experiment with felting. Very happy to hear about the pomegranate KAL, that's my moment to shine! I am swatching with red yarn right now for a 1960's dress, but I think I'm going to need to go down a needle size, contrary to my usual. I myself hesitated between a couple reds in the KFO sale, almost picked Red Currant, but ended up opting for Petroleum Green since I already have too much red items in my wardrobe or in yarn. I'll make a Sugamplum Jumper in this colour, perhaps a Jessie Maed tank in another shade, and I also have crochet thread in a lovely red too. Will red + something (colorwork) be accepted? Because I have a double knitted Gryffindor book scarf on the needles right now

thank you! And yes, all the reds of the merino are fantasitc honestly, but their greens and blues are perfect too! So Yiqi and I are thinking that if it's more than 50% red it should be ok! Can always show a WIP in the discord and see !

I recently got Supersoft to knit a small neck scarf with, just as a bit of a test before diving in for a sweater. Definitely wash and block it, and watch a few videos with people discussing it! The spinning oil/excess dye makes it a bit rustic feeling but washing (I believe dish soap was recommended) helps the yarn bloom quite a bit. I also hear it softens over time with wash/wear.

@@thewoollyworker yeah, I'm really trying to be more mindful about my yarn purchases. I mean, I buy the yarn because I want to knit something with it. And if I just keep buying, chances are I'm not getting around to the 'older' yarns in stash. And I really want to. So I have set the goal of not buying any new yarns before spring except if it's a gift and I don't have anything that would work.

About hand dyed looking different in the round vs flat: in my opinion, this happens with any variegated yarn because of the sudden change in width/circumference (because the speckles aren't arranged the same way). I think knitting in the round vs flat creates a difference when marling 2 yarns (see the Melange sweater by petiteknit) - but wouldn't be worried when one of them is mohair. Curious to see if your method helps with that anyways!
@thewoollyworker
@thewoollyworker 8 ай бұрын
Thank you, yes very good point about the different distance the yarn has to travel and this affecting speckles ! Will definitely inspect it after having done all this work to see if it makes a difference !

Hey this is so interesting, thank you! I'm still learning but could the gauge change when a woolen spun yarn is blocked? I understand sometimes it "blooms" with blocking, so that could maybe affect gauge? Please do correct me if I'm wrong, I'm here to learn! x
@thewoollyworker
@thewoollyworker 9 ай бұрын
hey! Yeah you're right, the yarn can change a lot, although sometimes it blooms and fluffs up, but doesnt necessarily grow, especially if they're not superwash they won't stretch out lengthwise as much ! But if you were talking about my Calm Down cardigan swatch, ive already washed and blocked the swatch and still not on gauge sadly, so it didnt help!
