It’s a great idea to keep a knitting journal of your projects! I have many journals from decades of knitting and I cannot stress how helpful it is to look up notes on previous projects. It makes for a charming history of your knitting and can be passed on to family members or friends. Good for you!

I have used the recommended yarn only once in about 25 sweaters. I use yarn I like, gauge I like, then do the MATH and it will turn out perfect fit. My husband,an engineer and he does the calculations for me. I even make worsted weight sweater pattern in fingering weight. Be brave.❤️🇨🇦❤️

You shouldn’t be shy. As long as you are friendly, tell the shopkeeper you have a youtube channel and ask the shopkeeper to take some short clips, there should not be a problem. It’s free advertising for them. As long as you’re not filming people without their permission, you should be good. PS- that navy is gorgeous for you! Just found your channel and am thrilled that finally a youtuber is as into petiteknit patterns as I am. PPS- about the yarn substitution and gauge, it’s all about the gauge, plus knowing your knitting style - if you’re a tight or loose knitter.

Just found your channel and was SO EXCITED to hear a knitter talk about complimentary colors/color palette/seasons, etc. A year ago I had a consultation with a House of Colour consultant (an in-person version of what you described) and LOVED it! I've been trying to think about what colors compliment me most as I plan and work on projects. Bright spring colors are best for me and it's not always easy to find those colors in a nice wool yarn! Can't wait to see what you do

Hi Amy! Loved this podcast thanks. I am also a real fan of the Denmark and Scandinavian yarns so thanks for sharing all of your recent trip and acquisitions. I am also interested to hear you are based in Massachusetts, as most of my knitting presently, is for my adult son who is also in Massachusetts - an Engineer also, and presently at MIT from home in New Zealand. You guys get COLD over there in your winter, so great opportunity and inspiration for me to knit up a storm of woolly loveliness to ship over to him. You looked great with that navy next to your face. Definitely one of your colours. I am now going to have a bing on all of your past podcasts whilst I excitedly ball up a newly received package of Isager spinni yarn colours for a Brick sweater for my son. I have a merino/possum DK but near on aran wt yarn from Wild Earth in Christchurch NZ, that will be it's base. Possum is great for warmth and also gives a beautiful dark greyish halo. Keep up the great work and inspiration for us and thank you Amy. 🥰🙏❣

Omg what a great podcost. I was watching someone else from my knitting group on KZbin and you popped up. I am going to have to follow you now on Instagram. You totally knit that the type of stuff I like to know from the European designers. I say you do a trip to Coph/Denmark with about 20 knitters or so to meet up and we do yarn tours. It would be like a mini retreat I would so be there. Seriously think about it. I have a bunch of knitting for olive yarn I would love to go to the store as well. it's so neat and organized as well. I'm also knitting the bubble sweater from My Favorite Things. I follow their patterns as well.

Thanks for sharing all your new yarn and project plans! I'd love to be able to visit some of those yarn shops someday to swish the yarns and see the colors in person. I've been curious about color analysis and done a lot of research and self-analysis. I've concluded that it isn't often clear. A lot of people are led down a path that is both limiting and doesn't suit them but for some it's helpful. You appear to have beautiful warm colors in your skin, eyes, and hair but it's hard to tell unless your lighting is truly neutral, which is hard to achieve. So the copper brown, artichoke green, and forest green you mentioned, are all warm colors that will be harmonious for you. Navy is actually a "universal color" (teal and some berry tones are as well) so they look good on everyone! Have fun and experiment and see what you like.

I agree staying in a color "season" has been a great rule of thumb. It's not super hard and fast, but now my wardrobe has really started to come together. Things look cohesive without being matchy matchy. I don't worry about "nuterals that go with everything " because if I'm staying in my season it all goes together! I also happen to love my "fall season" color scheme.

Thank you again for this. Also can't wait to see your video on stuff you knitted in 2022. As a suggestion I know you weren't feeling well, but when you have more strength gf maybe get up on walk around, or change direction. thank you for sharing i am loving your channel, i really think the navy suits you, i have the same colours you have from the charts you showed, and navy is just a fantastic colour for me and a soft pale blue, i also go for turquoise but i have done that to death, i love the neutrals but they do not flatter me, berry colour the colours have to be rich and vibrant or they look washed out on me, hope that helps, all the best for 2023

Hello! I enjoyed your podcast because I also love Danish wool and Danish designers. I’ve bought a lot from the UK and Denmark this year because the dollar has been so crazy strong compared to European currencies. Also, international orders subtract the VAT tax which is included in the price, and that deduction usually covers the shipping. So take a look at importing yarn again, and I think you’ll find that even luxury yarns are much less expensive than you think.

You are wise to be cautious about substituting yarns. Aside from meeting gauge, some designs require the yarn to have drape for it to achieve the desired final project...This came to my mind immediately as I have frogged entire finished sweaters due to too much drape or lack of drape. I enjoy your podcasts, keep up the good work!

I think we should treat neutral colors as nude makeup colors: it's different for every skin color. I have found out that my neutrals are more like grays and cool toned lilacs. Figuring that is actually game changer for wearing things you imagine yourself looking like "neutrals", you get the same effect, just not in camel 😅

I’ve just been going through the exact same thing regarding picking yarn colours!
